Following last weeks controversial U.S. Supreme Court rulings on Obamacare and gay marriage, voters believe more strongly that individual states should have the right to turn their backs on the federal courts.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 33% of Likely U.S. Voters now believe that states should have the right to ignore federal court rulings if their elected officials agree with them. Thats up nine points from 24% when we first asked this question in February. Just over half (52%) disagree, down from 58% in the earlier survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided. ...
Fifty percent (50%) of GOP voters now believe states should have the right to ignore federal court rulings, compared to just 22% of Democrats and 30% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Interestingly, this represents a noticeable rise in support among all three groups.

“We the people ALLOWED government to take money from us and to call it taxes- We ALLOWED them to keep raising those taxes with the understanding that it takes a lot of money to run a government- but there is NOTHING to state that we must continue to ALLOW them to both take more and more money from us AND to saddle us with unconstitutional laws and violations to our rights-”
From a moral and revolutionary perspective I agree with you we are justified in throwing off this government. But from a practical perspective I tell you we have nether the support or the means to do so at this time.
We need to build both in our people and our States before we are able to stand up to the tyrant. Given the sheer size and scale of the Federal Leviathan this could take quite a while.
Right now Washington is still too strong, and too big. We have no choice but to act intelligently to bring it down. To turn its own lawless corruption against it, and reposition ourselves and our states to take full advantage of its fall in replacing the few necessary authorities Washington has usurped over the years.
Only after the decline of Federal power will we be even capable of standing up to them in any revolutionary sense.
When did we last beat the rinos? Cantor? Who else? Cochran? The rinos can’t be beaten. The courts where this would have to be fought is part of the elitist state and just as corrupt as the rinos. Accept it.
“Yeah? And if the great people of this country saw their government attacking its own citizens, I believe we would then finally come together to fight to protect our freedoms- Dont forget, people were absolutely pissed over Kent State- and over Waco- but if there was a larger action against the people, the people would finally get the idea that big government has gotten WAY too out of control”
More likely the liberal press would portray the tax resisters as lawless individuals unwilling to pay their ‘fair share’ and the legislator that mandated it as nuts.
But lets say for example they didn’t or that we had preswadedthe left and thus also the press core to take our side.
Washington Still has an army capable of subduing that portion of our population willing to stand up to them as well as any state or states that join them.
Don’t put the cart before the horse Bob we need to build the political collation and its military force before we can uses it.
This is going to take time during which we can also work to weaken the power and the resolve of our enemy by destroying the Federal army and respect for the Federal tyrants.
If we can ‘preswade’ the lawless federal ‘court’ to do something that alienates the left, we might even get the support of the media and their side in helping to bring down Washington’s userped domestic authority.
This i don’t think will be that hard to do as men without prinsables are only anther corrupt reason or feeling away from doing anything we should desire of them.
I read once that when we fought for this country I nthe beginning years, that something like only 20% of the people actually fought-
[[But from a practical perspective I tell you we have nether the support or the means to do so at this time.]]
One ‘good king’ can turn it all around, and rally the people enough that we ‘get it’- I was really hoping the Tea Party would be the vehicle to get people to realize that our rights and constitution were udner attack and that we NEEDED to band together for the common good, but the party sizzled for a little while then fizzled
We Desperately NEED leaders stropgn enough to give the people hope- I believe the people ave just lost hope as they’ve watched one senator, governor after another sell their souls for power money and prestige- We’ve all, I think, come to the place where we just feel that there’s no use legally taking a stand against it any logner- because our representatives certainly aren’t willing to back us up-
We’re losing the nation to the immoral few- and it has rapidly increased I the last 7 years- We do NOT even have a supreme court any longer to protect us against this rogue government- the supreme court was supposed to be our last battle station against a rogue government, but now even they are compromised and corrupt
[[If we can preswade the lawless federal court to do something that alienates the left]]
I believe the only way that is going to happen is IF a republican president blackmails Roberts the way our current one did- Apparently we’ve come to the point where it’s necessary to fight lawlessness with lawlessness
[[Washington Still has an army capable of subduing that portion of our population willing to stand up to them as well as any state or states that join them]]
Nobody wants another civil war- I don’t think they’d have the guts to fire another ‘shot heard around the world’
[[Dont put the cart before the horse Bob we need to build the political collation and its military force before we can uses it.]]
It was kind of different times when our forefathers fought for this country- many were woodsmen, military, or knew how to use guns, but, I do think that the nation is approaching a boiling point again- because so many of our rights are beign trampled- What we NEED is one STRONG principled uncompromising leader to give the people hope
[[Has the federal government abided by it?]]
No, but the real question is “What are WE the people going to do about it?”
The answer of course is nothing
The Feds start withholding money from the State, and the State backs down. Personally, I’d love to see a governor declare that if DC is going to withhold highway money, the State will simply keep the federal part of the gas taxes.
The federal government is a creation of the states.
“Does Obastard send in the national guard or regular Army to arrest the OK legislature? What happens?”
Don’t know what will happen here, but the last dictator that ordered his army to fire on civilians ended up shot dead on the hood of an SUV. His name was Qaddhafi. Incidentally, the chief of the Libyan army got dragged into the street and was executed. Members of Qaddhafi’s elite southern mercenary army were killed by the thousands and bulldozed into mass graves.
Not even the Vaunted Texas will man up and do this. It is a good thought however.
The tenth amendment merely states that the federal government has the authority to take 100% of the States GDP and return 10% based on the state's good behavior, thus the term 10th amendment.
I see a bar in your future in fact I see several of them arranged vertically at about 6 inch intervals.
I have previously told the judge that I would not necessarily follow his instructions if I were seated on the jury. I was excused. No jail time. Jury nullification is both a right and sometimes a duty.
Sorry, but you are talking shoulds and ifs.
That’s supreme freaking court had to rule to protect even military retirements from several states.
I give an example and you say it’s basically the individuals own fault.
My point remains the same ... individual state nullification of SCOTUS is a dangerous game. It will cut two ways, and likely lead to confrontation over enforcement. And that enforcement will come from the Feds.
Well, I’m game. I just don’t predict the happy ending.
Could be wrong.
I never told a Judge but got threatened by a jury foreman, that was fun.
