Donald Trump is quickly becoming the GOP establishment's worst nightmare
Business Insider ^ | 07/02/2015 | Maxwell Tani

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump is not the most cautious speaker in the Republican presidential primary field.

He's in a public feud with the nation's largest Spanish-language television network, one of its premier broadcast networks, and a major retailer over comments suggesting Mexican immigrants are "rapists" and drug runners.

And despite all that, Trump is rising in recent polls, placing second both in national surveys and in polls of key early-voting states.

This means one thing: In a little more than a month, the outspoken Trump will almost certainly be one of the candidates who polls high enough to earn a spot onstage at the first Republican primary debate. He is now in seventh place, according to the Real Clear Politics average of five recent national polls — the top 10 make it into the debate.

It's a potential disaster in the making for Republicans who desire a more prim and proper run-up to selecting their nominee.

First, who cares what the GOP establishment wants.

Second, It’s eyeopening to see how the media is ALREADY twisting a GOP candidates words to attempt to help the Dems.

By the time the primaries get rolling Trump will be an afterthought and out of the race.

The real key will be if Trump is smart enough to sit down with some policy people and actually HAVE policy ideas on a number of things. Sooner or later, he WILL get questions on hot to beat ISIS (and his answer cannot be "I'll find the best general." That's a leader selection, not a strategy.) He'll have to have a position on the USSC rulings, and, more important a STRATEGY for rolling back Obamacare if that is his goal.

But he is doing two things that none of the others, including Cruz, my favorite, are doing: 1) he is addressing in a combative manner that is getting attention the critical issue of illegal immigration and he is doing it partly as an aspect of national security . . . which it IS.

2) He is showing that he is unafraid of the PC police, the liberal media, and all attempts to shut him up. He has NOT issued and "apology" for anything.

THAT is what our side is waiting for. Everything else is meaningless if you don't win, especially if you "lose gracefully." We are dying for anyone who will fight for ANY of our ideas unapologetically, and just because he doesn't (yet) fight for ALL my ideas, I'll take something over nothing. And that's Trump's appeal.

Trump is running in the Republican Party, not as an independent.

They should calm down. When the punch line arrives, that the new Donald is just as temper tantrum-driven as the old Donald, that will take Donald out of the picture.

He’s saying stuff many of us feel

He’s not a politician

He fights

He’s very flawed but there is an honesty to his brashness

Once again, the GOP is quite capable of losing with or without Trump.
regardless of Trumps liberalism or donations to democrats.

Trumps strength(at least for the time being) comes from others weakness.

[[Donald Trump is quickly becoming the GOP establishment’s worst nightmare]]

Yeah, his “I’m very rich” and his “I know very rich people”and his “I’ll put up a wall and make mexico pay for it” must really have them trembling-

Ted Cruz hasn’t even yet begun to fight- when he does- when the rubber meets the road- THEN the GOP-e will be trembling

Trump is slash and burn...the landscape we are faced with is in need of dire measures.
Were he absent we would have milk toast conversations, broad-based accolades with no real answers to the fact that the entire country is under a carpet-bombing of UN-State Dept. dumping of 3rd worlders in tandem with the SW open border. In addition to the cultural devastation. Walker is bought, Ben Carson, what will he do on this? its down to Cruz & Trump as the only ones drilling down.

Cruz is going in the gospel direction.

Trump is being populist, better than nothing as they say, but his elephantine ego is driving it all in the end and he might even get the popular mood wrong.

Hey EL

It’s because Trump’s shake up is stealing thunder from Ted and Scott

The only two candidates most here tolerate

Freepers love their notions

Fox News

Richard Scaife

NeswMax

All the Bushes

The Kochs

Plenty so called GOP supporters have given to the toons either cause they were asked or for access

It’s the lay of the land sour as it might be

On a small scale

City of Nashville had taken millions from myself and others in my industry in 2010 flood wake

Who did we pay to get it back

Democrat lobbyists and Democrat council members.....Nashville city is a democrat lock

Even though I’m sure I have given more time and cash to conservative causes for 30 years years than 99% here

I’m working for democrats too By that logic

Per Free Republic keyboard arbiters of what’s conservative enough

I’m still waiting for that birth certificate he was going to produce any minute now. LOL

The man is a charlatan, an effective one but a charlatan just the same.

When he was basking in the hero worship after throwing Kadaffi off his property, only a few of us were asking why he rented the property to Kadaffi in the first place.

Trump's pitfall will come if he doesn't develop some serious policies. They don't have to be line-and-staff, sub-point powerpoints of everything but he will have to have positions.

What will you do with ISIS?

How will you get rid of Obamacare?

What do you think of Hillary's e-mail stuff?

Things like this will start coming up. In fact, the minions in the drive-by media have missed the REAL opportunity to "get" Trump early by hitting him before he has developed these policies. (For ex., he said Paul Ryan was a "loser" because he said he'd cut entitlements. Well, is that because it's a bad idea or because you don't SAY that it's a bad idea?)

“Anything that gives the GOPe nightmares is OK by me.”

I second that emotion.
Trump is a bulldog.
The GOP-e: chihuahuas.
