New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie broke with many in his party’s social conservative wing Wednesday, telling reporters that government employees who have objections to issuing same-sex marriage licenses should not be allowed to opt out.

While many conservatives have called for steps to protect government employees who have objections to Friday’s same-sex marriage ruling from the Supreme Court, Christie said those who work for the government should abide by their oaths.

And here I thought a religious test for office was unconstitutional...

..."Christie said those who work for the government should abide by their oaths."

Kind of like the oaths the Supreme Court Justices took when sworn in the protect and defend the constitution or something along those lines. Right Governor?

Court officials have to uphold the law, if they don’t their jurisdiction will very quickly be sued and the taxpayers will be forced to pick up the tab.

I don’t think libertarians have considered that the social order, such as it is, doesn’t just spring into existence like Venus on the half shell.

And I would agree if that were equally applied. Until then we need to demand the treatment muslims get. IE ALL our religious demands met fully. And never ever let up until we are equal. Either by getting what we want or by all being stripped of religion of ALL forms from the workplace.

Christie is one of the biggest (literally) RINO frauds in a whole corral of RINO frauds.

(Although maybe we should stop using “RINO” to describe these quisling's, because RINO policies seem to be the default position of the party these days, rather than an outlier.)

Mark Levin was playing this tubby creeps presidential candidacy announcement speech the other day, and Christie went on and on and on about how he was all about “compromise,” and that the problems with the country were all the result of the RINOs not compromising enough with the far left.

My only thought - or the only one that can be approximately posted here - was “$crew this fat b@astard!”

So we should not abide by our faith, Christie?

All hail the State religion. Right Christie?

There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Christie and Obama. They’re both scumbags.

Anybody surprised? This is the guy to sign off on a law banning conversion therapy to turn gays straight. Sure, it doesn’t work much of the time, but shouldn’t people have the choice to try?

“And so it begins. The fascists can now identify Christians by simply inquiring their views and thoughts on Gay Marriage. And then they can be isolated, and lose their jobs because of it.”

Yes. The undesirables must be identified and removed. They stink and are a blot on our progressive society. But, let’s do it legally. Then in the name of law, we can mark them, shut down their businesses, pack them up and ship them off to the camps so we don’t have to see them, and work will set them free. They don’t exist. What happens to them in the camps is irrelevant. As long as our progressive brave new world does not have to see them or acknowledge their existence or non-existence.

With all due respect to Gov. Christie, he evidently doesn’t understand that the Supreme Court can use the 14th Amendment to apply a given rights to the states only when the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect a given right. And since the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect gay marriage, or the so-called right to have an abortion for that matter, activist justices actually wrongly legislated such rights from the bench using the 14th amendment as an excuse imo.

So if Gov. Christie really wants to protect gay marriage then he needs work with George Takei and do the following. Christi and Takei need to work with state and federal lawmakers to propose a gay marriage amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify the amendment then the Supreme Court will actually have a constitutionally enumerated gay marriage amendment to throw at the states and Christi and Takei will be heroes.

After hearing Christie’s address during his announcement, I believe his campaign is already finished.

“I think for folks who are in the government world, they kind of have to do their job, whether you agree with the law or you don’t,”

Too bad the Supreme Court didn't.

Gotcha Christie.

Sadly, he is absolutely right. Basically their contract for employment has changed. If they don’t agree they should quit. The beauty of free will is that you always have the option to opt out. Just don’t take a job that requires you to abandon your morals. No good Christian should work for this Government. They should all quit. Make sure the world knows why they quit and then let it all fall apart. Those with morals and ethics will be here to pick up the pieces.

Working for the government should not mean that you have to throw away your civil rights. I mean that in all seriousness.
