Washington (CNN)Bombastic GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump offered a rare spot of praise for President Barack Obama on Wednesday, in an interview with CNN's Don Lemon. He also said improving race relations would be a priority for him if elected president.
The hotel developer shared his views on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon while reflecting on the Charleston Massacre, where nine African-Americans were killed in a church earlier this month by a white man who said he wanted to start a race war.
Trump, a staunch critic of Obama, spoke highly of the eulogy the President gave at the funeral of Clementa Pinckney, the murdered pastor of the church and a South Carolina state senator.

In a way it reminds me of Obama, but it pains me to say that Trump’s idolization of himself almost seems to be worse or somehow more flagrant.
The man seemingly never misses an opportunity to reflect on his own greatness.
For instance, I have never seen or I do not recall Reagan ever behaving in such a way.
Other people have said that he is a great man, including me, but Reagan himself was far too modest a man to say such a thing.
He said things like America was great, and he explained why, and you could tell that he loved and respected his country very much.
I do not see anything like this at all in Trump.
I agree.
You definitely do your homework on these people. You have detailed information that I have not seen elsewhere, and I have learned some things about trump that I didn’t know prior to reading your post.
I think that there was someone else recently who was similar ..OH Perry...
There seem to be many men who will tell conservatives what they want to hear in order to gain power, and then they just cut them loose, and what’s worse is that conservatives seem to fall for this tactic easily.
Whomever speaks the lies they want to hear, they follow.
My objection to Trump comes less from the specific information you have listed here, and more from a gut feeling or reaction to the fact that he just does not behave as other true conservative men then I have seen in my life, and there have been precious few of those.
He does not have the characteristics of Reagan, or Scalia or Thomas. He does not have the characteristics of Mark Levin, who I am not sure may be the best example, but I think he is a true conservative who loves his country very much.
I don’t want to ramble on, so I’ll stop, I don’t trust this man.
Your instincts are correct, like any liberal the man cannot be trusted.
Rand hasn’t come out in favor of abortion, he said other things need to be talked about though. Social conservatism is great and ought to be fought for SOCIALLY, not via government. National defense is important but that doesn’t mean kowtowing to the neoconservative philosophy, which is more liberal than conservative.
For starters.
Also I’m not the GOP type... Most Republicans make me sick.
My praise for Barky is that he lies better than anyone who ever lived. He does it so naturally. Hillary is a terrible liar. You would think she would be good at it with all the practice she’s had.

I'm with you. Anyone who is familiar with Trump's record, and who is honest with themselves would not trust him.
You correctly say he doesn't have the qualities of a Reagan, etc., yet I have seen him compared to Winston Churchill right here on this forum.
I find it nothing short of disturbing, because until recently I thought conservatives were smarter than that.
You might see yourself as slick, but you just come off as dishonest with an agenda, probably a libertarian retread.
Virtually ALL of the regular defenders of liberal Donald Trump are nowhere to be seen. You know their names.
They flood FR with everything they can find about their liberal hero but when a thread appears wherein he is praising the Marxist community organizer they remain conspicuously silent.
Just an observation.
They know that Trump was a democrat and an Obama supporter.
Was? He still is and his praise of Obama is proof.
Oh yeah? How? Spirit and jobs?
He's done so well with the Hispanics, I think he's got a chance. /s
How do you “remember” 2012 when you just got here four months ago? Oh, you’re a zotted retread? Okay.
Long time lurker ;)
Okay, pissant. Welcome back, I guess.
Umm, Cruz has worked in private industry, as well. Look it up.
