Washington (CNN)Bombastic GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump offered a rare spot of praise for President Barack Obama on Wednesday, in an interview with CNN's Don Lemon. He also said improving race relations would be a priority for him if elected president.
The hotel developer shared his views on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon while reflecting on the Charleston Massacre, where nine African-Americans were killed in a church earlier this month by a white man who said he wanted to start a race war.
Trump, a staunch critic of Obama, spoke highly of the eulogy the President gave at the funeral of Clementa Pinckney, the murdered pastor of the church and a South Carolina state senator.

In the movie Medicine Man, Sean Connery had to take take a beating from the bombastic tribal Medicine Man and then suck up to him. I wonder if that is what is going on. I hope Trump didn’t lose his determination.
To many conservatives have been hoodwinked by this joke, this walking ego with a ridiculous coif. We must change this perception and work hard at it. If Trump or Bush or Rubio wins the nomination, I will vote constitution party.
Sounds like you’re playing right into the Trump villification CNN spin. When Trump has no strong opinion either way, he takes the plain vanilla attitude. “So and so is a ‘nice guy’” and so forth, said with exactly zero enthusiasm. That’s just the way he operates.
Trump thinks a political speech at a funeral was a good thing. Does he also think Obama has improved race relations... lol
It’s not ego, it’s self confidence. So many people lack it, that it is often taken as an over inflated ego. I like his bravado. Refreshing in a country of eunichs.
Not so rare praise for Obama.
Donald Trump recalls with chagrin that he supported Barack Obama for president in 2008, but says he now realizes that those moving hope-and-change speeches were nothing more than rhetoric.
Donald Trump, Obama, HannityI was his biggest cheerleader, the multibillionaire businessman told Sean Hannity on his Fox TV show Tuesday night. If you go back three years, Im saying, Do a great job. I wanted him to do a great job. I still want him to do a great job.
It’s more than that, remember that Trump was a democrat under Obama, he had long left the GOP.
Trump is The One II.. An unvetted narcissist messiah who lies about his background.
Dump the Trump. The man is the definition of political actor. Not only is he a phony, the man has zero chance against the dems because his self serving ambitions for presidency is obvious to most.. unfortunately to many here have fallen for him. I do believe though that he is bound to implode.
He helped Obama in the 2012 election. I doubt it.
Donald is triangulating again. Yeah, that’s the strategy. Throws the enemy off the scent for a while.
You would never see John Wayne or Ronald Reagan act hysterical like him. They were real men.
Trump was trolling for votes. He’s not too deep so this didn’t even register a 1 on his integrity meter.
I’ve been very critical of Cruz...still am.. but is crawl over broken glass to vote for him over Trump. I was a bit disturbed by the Cruz hysteria here not to long ago... But Trump?? Really? Let’s bring back Cruz control.
Rand Paul is just as bad, perhaps worse, but it’s hard to tell between these two weirdos.
I disagree. But let’s not let Rand get in the way of our shared enmity for Trump. I’m sure we’ll spar about Rand sooner than later.
There is nothing to “spar” about, Paul is a no go here.
There are quite a few here who like Paul. Paul is a million times better than Romney and I remember 2012. All those Romney haters jumped on the bandwagon, though begrudgingly. I will not vote for anyone on the GOP field except Paul, Cruz or Carson.
No, not many at all, Paul is too liberal for these conservatives.
