SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Gun shop workers say incidents like Friday night's botched break-in have more people headed to area gun stores.
"Seems to be a steady increase year after year, we're seeing more of it as the business grows," Mike Kelley said. Kelley, the owner of Kelley's Police and Tactical Supply, said break-ins bring more people into his store.
"A lot of people come in wanting to know what to do to protect themselves better and in different situations," Kelley said. "There's just more violence and it's even in Springfield, Missouri."

Ya, I fired a friend’s and her hand is about like mine and I had no problem with it.It fit just nice in my hand. She said to use the lighter round, less kick. I’ve fired my dad’s .45 1911A1 once, just once. One round. Period.
Check out the Ruger ‘American’ in .30-06. Really nice for the price.
If you are projecting so are a whole lotta others too.
Any recomendations from anyone on a 12 gauge that that can do a decent job of doubling as home defense / Trap. New or used up to $500?
Just back from a fun round of shooting in the Lytel creek shooting range (So. Cal) I only have a 22 cal 1939 Remington pop gun,(Dads old gun) but buddies let me shoot Glock 9, 40 and 45, Ruger 22 competiton, some kind of wwII Egyptian 8mm Mouser, Browning O/U 20 gauge. Finally a 60+ year old Sears and Roebuck pump action 12 gauge. The group always ends the day with a 45 min round of Trap which is a “blast” and I’d like to not have to borrow a shotgun in the future.
Don’t forget the step BEFORE civil war: settling scores.
Look at a Remington 870 pump gun. Affordable and reliable.
My new favorite is the Taurus Judge. Fires a .410 or a .45 long colt. Need to lean in to it, but in close quarters, can be very effective.
Savage 110 in 30.06...scoped right it will reach out for a mile or so...and for a few hundred yards it reaches out and touches some one every time!
I live in CA. Now that they are Registering Long Guns, I’m done buying any more Firearms while I’m here.
If and when I move out of State, I will probably add a few more, not including the ones I already have that are located in an undisclosed location with out of State Family.

I never thought I would live long enough to see the day that I feel like this, a stranger in a strange Land.
Or maybe I’m just Paranoid. Yep, that’s the Ticket.
Is that a SC? Gonna get mine in 9mm I think.
It just says M&P 40 Shield.
