The scene comes to mind with the news that Univision has abruptly told Donald Trump that they will no longer carry the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant. Why? It seems that the network is displeased that in his announcement speech.
And while all this was going on? Univision anchorman Jorge Ramos sent a handwritten note to Trump asking - yes - for an interview. Or in other words? Were going to break your contract and call you a racist but would you like to sit down for a chat?
So. As a result of Univisions decidedly unthought-through stab at partisan politics they received in return
1) a lawsuit for breach of contract over the cancellation of the Miss Universe Pageant;
2) a lawsuit for defamation (the poster comparing Trump to the racist killer in Charleston;
3) its executives have been booted from the Trump golf course; 4) a once convivial agreement on building a gate between neighboring properties has been ordered closed;
5) there is now a demand for the resignation of the executive who posted the defaming poster;
6) the private letter revealing anchorman Ramos to be beseeching Trump for an interview has been publicly released; and
and 6;) Trump has received a boatload of priceless publicity that appears as his numbers surge in the polls.
I would reply to you, but I do not understand the way you worded your comment. What sound bite are you referring to? Could you say what you mean in a different way?
Be still my heart. We can only hope.
What is this all about?
Why would Trump cancel?
I like brilliant “tomes”
I like women. But hey to each their own. ;)
Tomes=Times
Between this and NBC Trump is getting more media exposure than all the other candidates combined.
When I saw the quip, “We are a nation, not a business” my first thought was “sound bite”. I probably should have used terms like quip or comment instead.
One can’t separate business and nation since all of our affairs are performed in a businesslike manner. Even war. Unfortunately what we have are people who do not have our best interests in mind when negotiating our affairs. Our trade deals with the Communist, Iran and violent lawless Mexican border are vivid examples of their handiwork IMO. It all this stands, we eventually fall.
There are many here that sat out the election rather than vote for the (odious) Romney. He was far from perfect, very, very far from it, but given the awful choice between him and the Big Zero, pulling the lever for him was the only choice if you were to vote. Incremental gains and access and influence is the game.
Just browse the threads from the last presidential election and you will find loads of FReepers that "took their ball (vote) and went home (didn't vote)" even when their candidate dropped out of the primary. So, they bowed out because their (perfect) candidate didn't place and they conceded the election to the Big Zero. Many threads proved that.
They all had their perfect candidate they would support and trashed all the others because of failings (we see this now, like the original Post I was replying to).
Apparently you missed the point of my post.
Incremental gains add up over time.
The left knows this and they vote accordingly. It is time the right learns this, too.
Your screed about 4-cycles proves my point--when was the last time we controlled both houses of congress and the White House? When were the republicans last able to at least slow the lefts advancing? Maybe if we have enough Freepers fighting hard and true for their perfect candidate and then supporting a marginal candidate we will incrementally shift government rightward. Maybe. How do we know unless we give them that chance?
The left achieved critical mass with the Big Zero and leaped forward with their agenda. We will never be in such a position until we accept incremental gains.
We will never be in such a position until we accept incremental gains. Why? Because we have not been in a position to do so because FReepers generally never will be satisfied with whatever candidate is running if not their own.
(You do know my post was not personal, my original post and this one. So, https://youtu.be/0OnpkDWbeJs)
Your first sentence was such a flat out lie the rest isn’t worth reading.
Yes he is, but remember this was all generated not by Trump, but by vile malicious slander broadcasts at the national level by a major network.
Because I believe what I wrote therefore it is a lie?
A lie is when you misrepresent something you know to be true.
To be in error in what you believe is not a lie. If you said I was in error, that would have been the adult response.
However, you chose to engage in name-calling.
We said our piece, I explained my position and belief and you name-called. You can either now cave to your inner 8th grader and snidely reply with some juvenile remark or be an adult and let it go.
Be a child or be an adult.
It is your choice.
Liar because you assign things to me that are not true.
.
So, you couldn’t resist.
;-)
“A lie is when you misrepresent something you know to be true.

By definition a heartfelt belief cannot be a lie.
Let it go. It is time to move on, after all, I have to check the mail, run some errands and gaze at the far horizon and listen to some wildlife.
Typical liberal you are.
I must agree that our recent Secretaries of State are proven useless as they hate America. A businessman in the WH may not be all things to all people just as a surgeon needs no bedside manner when he is operating on an anesthetized patient but what we need for the time being is someone who can straighten out the economy, even if he has to take a knife and hacksaw to it.
Foreign trade and foreign political relations play into economic health. The Donald has experience with both of those things to a degree more than Obama and Kerry, certainly. Hillary isn’t even in Trump’s league.
What we've had for decades now can be better compared to our worst enemies.
Some things never change which is why we are leaning toward Trump.
Thats the problem. People are yet again ignoring the history of the presumptive GOP liberal because he says things they want to hear.
Stop doing that. Look at someone with conservative principles, values and actions, not a Hillary donating leftist that thinks tough talk is all thats needed.
Maybe for the modern ‘conservative’ words are indeed all thats needed.
