Never happen.
What a joke, Walker is just another political operative trying to find the best lie to fool the weak minded that supports him.
If the Fed Courts threaten any state or local official over "gay" marriage, the states need to arrest the judges.
Make Obama try to send in the army to enforce "gay" marriage.
As a result of this decision, the only alternative left for the American people is to support an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to reaffirm the ability of the states to continue to define marriage, Walker said in the statement.
...
I’m not sure an amendment will do any good. It seems like half the court doesn’t care what the Constitution, the dictionary, or any amendments say.
Why not just have a law (signed by the next GOP president) which takes the whole issue of marriage OUT of the federal government’s reach - and then any state which wants to can do the same? It’s easier that way, as it would not require an amendment.
Yes, some tax and other laws would then have to be re-written - for example, qualifications for filing a joint return would have to be based on some other factor than marriage.
Then, whether or not a “marriage” is recognized is basically up to whatever church is asked to sanctify the marriage and whatever neighbors in the community want to consider whether they will refer to the couple living next door as married.
Isn’t that really the way it should be anyway?
Bravo Gov. Walker!
Walker is calling for a tactic that he knows is doomed from the start but knows it’ll help him in the primary. See the replies I get from this post as proof. “At least it’s something.”
The Supremes would hold that Amendment unconstitutional.
Who will just stare them down and do the opposite of what they say?
Texas should refuse. Let the Supremes bring their army.
Its a symbolic political ploy like the Human Life Amendment after Roe vs. Wade weighed in on abortion in 1973.
FAKE, PHONY, PLASTIC AND A CHARADE IN THE FACE OF TYRANNY COMING DOWN AGAINST THOSE WHO HAVE CONSERVATIVE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ON SEXUALITY AND MARRIAGE IN THIS NATION.
What good would that do?
The USSC would rule the amendment unconstitutional.
Linda Graham checks in for the boofoo contingent.
...you’re going to use a corrupt system to end the corruption?
Good luck with that.
I’m sure Walker’s intentions are good, but with all due respect, are we supposed to ratify a new amendment to the Constitution every time the rouge Supreme court defies the Constitution with one of its decisions? If we were to pass an amendment to counter every decision by the Supreme Court in which they have defied the Constitution, we’d probably have to pass another 50 amendments. The problem is much deeper, and requires a more fundamental fix. Our Constitutional system is in crisis.
It’s a constitutionally legitimate method, but very likely impossible and a waste of effort and resources. The mountain is just as high as the left’s dream of invalidating the second amendment.
Let's see, California, Oregon, Washington, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Minnesota, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. That's thirteen States riddled with liberals that would never come even close to ratifying such an amendment.
Good luck with that.
And by the way, you "Article V" fools, this goes for you too.
A lot of naysayers on this thread....to be expected these days.
Where is the section regarding marriage, in the Constitution, anyway?
Go full on to repeal 17A or go home.
Walker calls for Constitutional Amendment to allow States to define marriage.
