After conservatives took another gut punch from black-robed Obamacare cheerleader Chief Justice John Roberts, many of us were left wondering just what in the heck is wrong with this guy. After all, these Republican appointees to the Supreme Court are supposed to be on our side, right? They can’t all be David Souter.
It turns out that Ann Coulter sniffed another Souter-esque betrayal in the offing ten years ago:
After pretending to consider various women and minorities for the Supreme Court these past few weeks, President Bush decided to disappoint all the groups he had just ginned up and nominate a white male.
So all we know about him for sure is that he can’t dance and he probably doesn’t know who Jay-Z is. Other than that, he is a blank slate. Tabula rasa. Big zippo. Nada. Oh, yeah … We also know he’s argued cases before the Supreme Court. Big deal; so has Larry Flynt’s attorney.
But unfortunately, other than that that, we don’t know much about John Roberts. Stealth nominees have never turned out to be a pleasant surprise for conservatives. Never. Not ever.
I know it is all the rage in this era of hypersensitive feelings for some conservatives, and almost all moderate Republicans, to bristle at everything Coulter says and be dismissive of her because she has a knack for tossing out an outrageous headline-grabbing comment. Here’s the thing about her: she’s right a lot of the time.
Sure, I’ve got to deduct a lot of points for her flip-flop to become a Romney champion in 2012 but a lot of people were drunk on wishful thinking then (present company excluded). Other than that, she makes a lot of sense.
So maybe pay just a little more attention to her from now on.
And pray that Antonin Scalia lives to be 148.
Ann was also right about the rise in mob mentality from the left...she is right about most things and fearless in her fight for freedom. She has a unique ability to cut through all the liberal crap and force them to see just how ugly they are...that is why they hate her so...
She has not been wrong about a lot, but she is SO SO SO wrong about Romney. It is irritating how she goes on and on about how wonderful he is. Has to be love because it is so blind.
I remember reading her comments about Roberts. Yes she was right.
Yes she did. Alito was a great appointment. Roberts, Sotomayor, Kagan.... not so good (I know, I understate!).
Coulter also had a thing for Christy..., but she was right that if we nominate Romney, we (Republicans) will lose...
"Asked in a Q&A session after a bombastic speech at CPAC what she thought of the 2012 field of hopefuls, Coulter initially hesitated, but went on to essentially deliver an endorsement of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
"If you don't run Chris Christie, Romney will be the nominee and we'll lose," said Coulter, eliciting cheers from the crowd./p>
I believe Bork would have been a fanastic appointment. But the spaghetti-spined Republicans let the Dems demagogue him. And with a Democratic president, those same Republicans rubber-stamp the likes of Bader-Ginsburg, Kagan, and Sotomayor.
>> Gov. Haley being an immigrant <<
I thought she was born in SC.
put me in the “love her” category.
i know she gets a bad rap on here, but i find her wit, humor, and ability to fluster and outrage libtards to be very entertaining. even if she’s not a 100% scoring ACU conservative, she’s fighting the good fight.
she’s easy on the eyes too. ;)
She was. That is what Ann Coulter was wrong about.
And Chris Christie, and Marco Rubio, and Paul Ryan...
why hasn’t(haven’t) the lesbian(s) on the SC recused themselves from the gay marriage case?
IMHO, this is judicial misconduct of the highest order.
>> Maybe if she hadnt behaved so irrationally about Harriet Myers, we WOULD have a conservative on the Supreme Court <<
When Harriet Myers’ nomination was dropped (thanks, ironically, to the efforts of David Frum), Harriet was replaced by Sam Alito. Do you think he’s not a conservative?
I agree. I think he adopted the two Irish girls to further cover his gay lifestyle.
I believe the Obama’s know all this and are using it much as they are with Boner and McConnell (speaking of old queens...)
one last thing... Ann’s article once again reminds us all what a complete fool Dubya was. those Bushes routinely snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. yet another reason to run for the hills if the fix is in and Jeb gets the nomination. no matter how easily he should be able to beat hillary or bernie, he’ll find a way to shoot himself in the foot and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
>> When she’s right, she’s super-duper right. <,
Dozens of FReepers had declared Ann to be virtually a “non-person” just a few years ago. Now she has again attained the status of heroine. Wonder of wonders!
She was also wrong about Christi.
Actually, I couldn’t remember who was put in her place. All I remember is her meltdown.
>> what a complete fool Dubya was <<
Do you mean:
What a fool he was to nominate Sam Alito?
And:
What a fool his father was to nominate Clarence Thomas?
And:
What a genius Reagan was to nominate Anthony Kennedy?
I did not know or remember Miss Coulter’s warning.
I do remember Howard Phillips and Jerry Falwell warning about Sandra Day O’Connor; B. M. Goldwater had some choice words for his old supporter, Falwell, and they weren’t AZ nice. AZ has some of the worst pols.
But when they get something right they should have our unqualified support.
Super clever reasoning: I can’t top it.
