As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administration’s public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

Funny how folks that were all over me want to forget about the entire discussion after they were proven to be absolutely WRONG.

You’ve got it part right. I really, really, really don’t intend to vote. As for complaining, I’d rather do something useful. Like implement conservative measures without the electoral politics. Which I think is possible. Frankly complaining about politics is too easy. Everyone gets that it’s messed up. It’s what you offer up instead that matters.
One small example of what I’m talking about: uber. Uber has shaken up the taxi monopolies across the country. It has reduced, ina small way, the breadth and scope of government. It didn’t rely on voting for X politician or Y political party. It simply did it.
Electoral politics has failed conservatives. Badly. Yet we continue to play a rigged game with a stacked deck and a crooked dealer. But do we get up and walk away from the table? No. We get all excitable about whether harry reid or john boehner gets to have a seat on the gaming commission.

I’m not an expert on trade bills, but from what I read it seemed okay. Apparently Boehner made changes to the bill that Cruz wasn’t going to go for.
I respect the fact that he changed his stance. That’s good character there. And I have no problem admitting being wrong, although I will say if Cruz didn’t know about the changes until the last minute, I don’t know how I could have.
Bottom line, Cruz is the most solid conservative in the race, and I’m sticking with him.
As for you, continue praising yourself and trumpeting how right you were. Seems like you’re making up for all the fawning you want others to do.

That is not a material "change". It was a material discovery of what he voted for. He voted to fast track a bill that was really bad. The bill didn't change, he just "discovered" what was in it. Sessions was right all along and Ted was wrong all along.
Second, TPA’s progress through the House and Senate appears to have been made possible by secret deals between Republican Leadership and the Democrats.
Again that is not a change in the Bill, just in the procedures to get it passed.
Anyone who says Ted Cruz changed his vote because of "material changes" in the bill is deluded. He changed his vote because he stopped dead in the polls and the money train from the grassroots dried up.
That said...Cruz is a Constitutionalist....and he stands on that ...that is his approach to all he faces and seeking God's wisdom as he goes. It really doesn't get any better than that in my book.
It's an election year and people need to give "room". If they can't then they need to get out of the way!
