EXCLUSIVE — TED CRUZ: OBAMATRADE ENMESHED IN CORRUPT, BACKROOM DEALINGS
Breitbart ^ | 23 June 2015 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 06/23/2015 4:29:02 AM PDT by Leto

As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administration’s public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

You need to read through the thread and get yourself informed.

> “I’m not ruling out voting for him, but I think his real motivations need much closer scrutiny.”

And Ted Cruz would completely agree with you. Here’s Ted himself on just this issue:

And if I was proven wrong I would apologize.

The fact remains I was correct the whole time and I was maligned over and over again and called about a dozen names and had my very presence on this forum questioned even though I have been here for 10 years. FYI Cruz supporters, that is not a way to win folks over to your point of view.

By the way, I am still waiting. It must really bother the folks that insulted me so many times just because I actually took the time to read the bill we were all talking about.

Cruz took the time to read the TPA and think more about it and voted the way I said he should have from the beginning. Good for him. A lot of people would not do that.

TPA will pass,of that I have no doubt. Then, the actual TRADE deals will also be passed,by a vote of 51.these “deals” will be BAD BAD BAD for the U.S. Cruz will not be able to stop this.He couldn’t even prior to his first TPA vote.It was a pile of dog poop on the sidewalk that he needed to step around, not in.
These deals will be done within 9 months tops, guarantee it.

Neither Cruz nor Jindal will be nominated, so it doesn’t matter wherher they’re conservative or not. So I guess you plan on voting for Jeb! When he’s nominated, eh?

You are correct. I did forget an option.

Option 4: Be a bootlicking toady for the uniparty! So how’s that working out for you?

No, none of it is funny. I thought you said that, sorry.

I think no matter who we elect - the country is toast. We are just arguing about the deck chairs. again.

I think Cruz will listen to the people more than any politician since Reagan.

Thanks for letting him know our stance!

ps. I’m in East Tennessee. Just escaped Mexifornia and am LOVING the beauty and kindness and conservatism here! I think I died and went to heaven ;)

I’m not ready to say Cruz is done. No primaries have been held But it is time to get the fork out of the drawer. Depending on the polls you look at he’s in 7th to 9th place. (I know, I know. The polls are wrong, the sampling is biased, not enough conservatives answer the phone, he’s going to have a miraculous spike once he debates, etc. )

Obviously the fact that I’m on your ponglist is festering in your craw. So please, by all means remove me. If there are any arricles that interest me, I’ll see them on the forum.

I will not be voting for Jeb...

He will not be the nominee. But, you disgust me...let’s not vote at all and let’s give up on Conservatives because ‘I feel they won’t get elected”.

Well, vote Hillary then. Democrat is in your name, after all...

> “That is two times that Cruz spoke out against an unconstitutional shift in power and then voted for it.”

Two times spoke against and voted for it? I know of only one, what’s the other?

Ted voted NO on cloture for the Iran deal and then voted for it because as a sponsor (meaning an affirmative vote for) he gains certain privileges for tracking and participating in the legislation he sponsored namely in this case the Iran negotiations.

Where the deception occurs is when a Senator votes YES on cloture and then votes NO on the bill because he/she will know they are covered and can tell their constituents they voted against the bill even though they enabled it to pass by voting for cloture.

Ted was never deceptive on voting NO on cloture and then YES on the bill once he knew it was a done deal. It makes no sense, there is no benefit to doing it that way. No one votes NO on cloture in an attempt to deceive. If there were not enough votes for cloture, the Iran bill would have died. Usually cloture is called BEFORE the Senate Majority Leader and his Whip know they have the votes. Before cloture no one knows for sure if it’s a done deal. After cloture everyone knows it’s a done deal. Cloture is about cutting off debate. If there aren’t enough votes, debate continues. Cloture can be called several times and if there aren’t 60 votes, the debate continues until there are enough votes or the bill dies.

Ted spoke out against lifting sanctions on Iran but once he saw cloture had passed which he voted No on, he saw it was a done deal. He knew McConnell had the votes. There’s no point in continuing to work against something that is passed. It’s best to work with what you have and try and change it later.

I imagine Ted Cruz chose to become a sponsor of the bill for innocuous reasons as travel budget for he and his staff to Israel or other intermediate points where the Iran negotiations were taking place. As a sponsor he gains certain privileges. I also imagine the Israeli lobby asked him to stay involved.

For whatever reason, the Iran bill was kept tightly secret and that is where a legitimate gripe can be made because it leaves the public in the dark. Surely there were parts of the bill that had National Security implications; maybe there were a lot of such parts. We don’t know. It may very well be that secrecy was absolutely necessary. For example, terms for dealing with covert agencies, monitoring agencies etc. We simply do not know.

As for all the secret trade deals, Ted Cruz has said the secrecy surrounding them is “STUPID” and that the secrecy should be lifted NOW.

“I will not be voting for Jeb...”

You say that now, but I’m sure you’ll be shuffling your feet and mumbling to yourself while you stand in line in November 2016.

“But you disgust me...let’s not vote at all and let’s give up on Conservatives because ‘I feel they won’t get elected”.

Bootlicking toadies disgust me as well, but that’s beside the point. If you wish to engage in rudeness or abrupt behavior you can expect me to respond in kind. So other than engaging in ad hominem attacks, do you have anything you would like to discuss? Did my analysis on the uselessness of voting strike home? Would you like to expand on how voting for “conservatives” was such a successful strategy in 2014?

“Well, vote Hillary then. Democrat is in your name, after all...”

I guess you really don’t get it. I don’t intend to vote. But feel free to explain why voting makes sense in light of all the conservative victories that have reduced the scope and breadth of government over the last 30 years. But first you’ll have to identify some. I’m hard pressed to identify any.

Are you for real?!

So, something he spoke out against, he votes for?

Just like TPA? He said it gave Obama immigration powers. Cruz offered an amendment to "fix" that problem. His amendment was voted down. Cruz voted for TPA anyway. You do not fool me any more than Ted Cruz fools me.

The PROBLEM is allegedly “conservative” candidates
like Scott Brown, like Toast Cruz, that lie to the
TEA Party, win .... and then support Obama.

Liberty was destroyed by such people and their supporters.

“I don’t think Cruz changed because of people...he waits until he understands the entire game...and that’s never clear until coming down to the wire.”

I don’t know his motives. While none of the cruz obsessed will believe it, I’m glad he decided to and will reel in my comments accordingly. He did the right thing, and for that he deserves acknowledgement if not praise. That doesn’t mean I have to support his candidacy, but he did the right thing.

Rafael Edward ‘ted” Cruz takes the words of John F’ing kerry “I voted for the 87 billion before I voted against. Ted states “I voted for Obamatrade before I voted against it the second time around”. Filled with corrupt backroom deals they were there along Ted, what you afraid to hear that many conservatives do not trust you. What an idiot!

> “TPA will pass,of that I have no doubt. Then, the actual TRADE deals will also be passed,by a vote of 51.”

TPA passed already and you know that TPA is not an actual trade deal. But TPA now requires all the trade deals to be made public for at least 60 days before they are voted up or down.

That means you better be prepared to read, read and read and be ready to melt the phone lines in Washington DC if you find something harmful. And I expect there will be.

But NOTE one important fact. All these trade bills are not treaties and that fact prohibits foreign nations from imposing treaty law on the USA. That means we still have the courts as back up. And the court still is able to check the Executive Branch and bad legislation.

> “these “deals” will be BAD BAD BAD for the U.S. Cruz will not be able to stop this.He couldn’t even prior to his first TPA vote.”

I tend to agree but we don’t know yet what’s in these trade deals. Until then we are just speculating.

> “It was a pile of dog poop on the sidewalk that he needed to step around, not in.”

By ‘It’ I take it that you mean TPA which is not secret and which is not a trade bill. There are two versions of TPA that lodged into Ted Cruz’ offices.

The first version of TPA was a good bill that did not give Obama much power nor did it cede treaty powers that many kooks say it did. It is not secret. You can read it right now.

But the second version of TPA which is the one that just passed has a lot of liberal amendments that make it bad.

So Ted did not step in any ‘dog poop’. He voted YES for the good version and NO for the bad version.

TPA is not new. It’s been around for decades. It has to be renewed though. Harry Reid killed its renewal when GW Bush was president. So this latest go-round was to reinstate it. TPA is good for America in the form it was in before it was changed last week.

> “These deals will be done within 9 months tops, guarantee it.”

Maybe. But the USA does not control when other nations sign on to it. When there are 11 or 12 nations involved, nothing goes fast and nothing stays on schedule. Phyllis Schlafly, a long-time Wahington DC insider says it will take 18 months to get the trade deals finalized.

What Obama wants is Climate Change control. That sounds absurd but basically it comes down to a global tax which in my opinion will be redistribution from 1st world countries to 3rd world countries.

But to get there Obama does not have enough time left in office but he knows Hillary can get it if only she can get elected. One way to assure Hillary gets elected is to get amnesty for 10 million illegals and then loophole them into citizenship by lying they have been here for 5+ years and then getting them registered to vote and voted democrat.

For Obama and his hard-core leftist masters, everything now hinges on getting Hillary elected. It is Hillary that will get Climate Change control. It is Hillary that will finalize the Obama trade deals or her version of them.
