EXCLUSIVE — TED CRUZ: OBAMATRADE ENMESHED IN CORRUPT, BACKROOM DEALINGS
Breitbart ^ | 23 June 2015 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 06/23/2015 4:29:02 AM PDT by Leto

As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administration’s public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

True, but I don’t outright dismiss those failings.

NONE have been adherent to the Constitution; see their voting records, or the idea(l(s)) they espouse. Any of ‘em say ANYTHING re: our REPUBLIC?

I’ve given up on the media asking any TOUGH questions on either side. Our education system has helped the ‘talking point’ election cycle w/ NO critical thinking (IE: IF a tax cut ‘cost’ the govt $X, to whom does said $$ belong? What % of ones life is ‘fair’ the govt confiscates?)

When those contenders cannot even back/enforce the Rule of LAW, does anyone believe the Founders vision is even gravely wounded vs. dead and buried??

Well, I agree with Cruz as it concerns the first TPA Bill that was passed in the Senate. The House version is a different story, hence his changed vote.

Yes, it is just that simple!

Cruz is the Tea Party candidate who sold out to the Establishment!

I hate to inform you, but the Bill was never intended to go back to the Senate in the first place!

Had Pelosi not blocked it Cruz wouldn't had a second vote on it.

People are making this far more complicated then it is regarding Cruz....sheep startle easy and then run...which is exactly what happened here on FR.

It would be helpful if people didn’t get carried away before they even know what’s really going on.

For me I know enough about Cruz to give him the room needed to do whatever he thinks best...including changing from one stance to another...because the Demorats are cheats and swindlers and will appear however they choose to play their hands, which is seldom what appears to be.

The proper question here I believe is is Ted Cruz still in favor of TPP. Discussing TPA and not TPP especially at this point really just confuses the issue at least the way they are doing it.

Well, actually, you don't know what you are talking about.

Senator Cruz has stated several times that he is withholding judgment on TPP until it has been negotiated and he knows what is in it.

Yes, and for good reason. And he will be for TPA again when the trade deals that can use it get clear of the influence of Obama and Boehner.

Because TPA is not the problem, Obama/Boehner are the problem.

Don't confuse them with facts. It seems ranting and taking your unproven opinions as fact is now all the rage on FreeRepublic.

Every pertinent fact is the same. They added a few things to the end of it, but overall it is to the same effect.

Don’t worry, I expect nothing less from people who were unable to read through a few lines the first time.

At least Cruz was capable of learning and admitting he was wrong. You evidently are not.

I judged Obama a threat the the well being of America, so was compelled to vote for Mitt in the general election. I did not vote for Mitt in the primary, instead voting for Ron Paul as a protest candidate, while knowing that my vote made no difference (Washington State's caucus's being late in the season.)

Did you vote for Obama? Did you vote 3rd Party? Did you abstain from voting for POTUS because Mitt wasn't good enough? Best case scenario your vote didn't matter - worst case you helped deliver the USA over to Obama.

Mitt was far from my first choice, but I am sure he would not have governed as a racist, American hating, gay communist Islmaic sympathizer trying to "fundamentally transform" America.

Given that I am sure I own no apology to the Conservative movement, or my conscience, or anyone for my general election vote for Mitt. At the time I thought it was the right thing to do, in retrospect it was clearly the right thing to do.

Yes, but the first vote was a bad one as well!

Cruz stated that the first vote had been bought by allowing the export-import bank to survive.

Face it, Cruz didn't expect this much reaction against him over this.

And the GOP itself is going to pay dearly for this treason!

At the tine that Cruz was saying that Sessions was misinterpreting the TPP Bill, I believe he was correct. It is the emergence of the other two bills that were being negotiated that have brought about his change of mind.

He was correct.

there was no reason not to give this President the same ability to negotiate trade deals.

Uh, Barry Soetoro is president. That’s plenty of reason not to give him the same ability.

Then the secret deals were leaked an changes were made to TPA. He did the right thing by changing his vote, but those who hate him will never give him credit.

I have a favor to ask all of you as it is quite obvious that you all have access to the morons and troll networks that repeatedly try to lodge themselves into these threads about trade and Ted Cruz.

Because I am persuaded in your unique abilities to talk at the level of these trolls, morons and buffoons, I am asking you to do me a favor and pass on the following links to them:

What this Obama and Cruz supporters ignore
is that this was a SECRET bill, split into three,
misnamed, and made complicated, to
1) empower Obama
2) disable the US Constitution in favor of fascism
3) and dishonor the GOP which pushed it through
without even reading it.

===> IT is about Obama-empowerment and SECRECY.

There have been posters born in 1998 that have been outed as ‘sleeper cells’. To my amazement I have seen them.

Anyways, you are determined to continue your rant and as long as you follow the rules you may be allowed to continue.
