After days of dancing around the matter, a score of South Carolina legislators (including the governor and both of its senators) stood united to say the Confederate flag should be removed from the state capitol.
The controversy over the flag renewed after pictures were uncovered of the Charleston church shooter having a Confederate flag license plate. People have argued the kind of hate the flag represents has no place in modern America.
Well, now Walmart is taking action too. According to CNN, the retail giant will no longer sell any merchandise with Confederate flags on them.
A spokesperson explained, We never want to offend anyone with the products that we offer. We have taken steps to remove all items promoting the confederate flag from our assortment whether in our stores or on our web site.
I guess they is goin’ to ban “Dixie” next. I still recall opening the song book, turning the pages, and proudly singing the first verse:
“Oh. I wish I was in the land of cotton.
My feet stink, but yours are rotten...”
circa 1953 - J.N. Long Elementary, 3rd grade, Mrs. Craighead presiding
Sorry, no disrespect to the Southland or Mrs. C. intended. It was a long time ago in an America I used to know as a child.
BTW. This flag business is going to cause us real problems here in Texas, namely what will we use in place of the Confederate flag in our “Six Flags Over Texas’ advertisements. I guess it doesn’t really matter since everybody knows we are all racists down here. /s
Question: China makes Confederate flag items?
Who knew?
I am OFFENDED by the LBGT Rainbow Flag, it is OFFENSIVE to me, and symbol of the repression of Christians and Free Speech.
BAN THE DAMN THING, IMMEDIATELY!
If you are interested in preserving true history, consider getting these flags while they are still sold in our free country. Can you believe what is happening in our country; every single day another freedom subject to destruction?
First of all, I won’t set foot in a filthy Walmart.
Second, they’re really going to piss off a lot of their customers.
And third, if they don’t want any of their products to offend anyone they need to stop selling a lot of things. And they’d better stop selling bacon while they’re at it.
IT will change the name to FIVE FLAGS OVER TEXAS. The confederate flag never flew over Texas. That was just an old wives’ tale. /s
I posted on another thread that the Stars and Bars, for me, represented a fight against tyranny. Many people didn’t understand.
That's my concern, too. If the past behavior of liberals and elites is any guide, once the Stars and Bars are buried the new target will be the Stars and Stripes.
Skynrd dropped the flag years ago.

They wimped out years ago, too.

Decided to just go full bore. :)
Now, that’s what should be flying above the U.S. Capitol Building.
All the feds should be flying the hammer and sickle.
I used to fly that and the Betsy Ross on the front of the house, for exactly that reason.
I have had countless black people in VA admire the bike *and* the jacket, not once has anyone said a bad thing about it.
In fact, several people have tried to buy it right off my back for considerable money.
Rather than take advantage of their generous offers, I gave the company name and website where they could buy for less than half of what they wanted to pay me.
It’s not about whether or not you shop there. It’s about pushing back just a little. The worst thing we do is nothing.
It’s why we’re losing the war on our culture and history.
