Pope Francis is rapidly convincing me that he is not just a leftist, but a dope. Speaking to a group of young people in Turin, he departed from his script and launched into a rambling denunciation of, among others, arms manufacturers:
It makes me think of people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesnt it? he said to applause.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying duplicity is the currency of today they say one thing and do another.
We are a long way from Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Pope Francis then went on a tour of world history that included this gem:
The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didnt they bomb (the railway lines)?
With what? Oh yeah, that would be bombs. Dropped out of bombers. Manufactured by whom?
Pope Francis needs to pull out of his recent tailspin before he becomes an international laughingstock.
Using deadly force to repel an unjust aggressor is moral. Catholic doctrine 101. The pope is not fit to be pope and should resign.
I suppose that is easier and more comforting than seeing him as an active supporter of the left.
Once I saw the wind blow the cape of a Swiss Card and I saw he was packing what looked like a .45 1911. Who konws, probably a Beretta. A bit untrusting though, I think.
Oh, he definitely supports the left. That’s not in dispute.
Yes, I thought the incoherent Turin speech - which was given to a large assembly of youth groups - has got many people wondering about him.
“Does anyone know of any good arms manufacturers”
****
SWHC has done well recently.
Francis looking like lib politico with funny hat.
Nope. Not only is he really a leftist but he does know what he's doing.
He's no dope, that's for sure.
As long as you are only armed only with a Twitter feed you are good to go as a Christian. I’m sure ISIS celebrates that thinking.
The stupid, it now flows uphill. But we already knew that from observing our political leaders...
That's what's between quotation marks. I can't make much sense out of it. It's just something he said to an audience, but as the author of this piece pointed out, "distrust" of weapon-manufacturers is, at best, in tension with the idea of bombing railway lines to save the Jews.
Don’t know as a Pope has ever been fired but as far as a recall, I think Francis is doing what the electors want. The power behind the throne has captured the throne.
Without the allied weapons of WWII there’d be no Pope.
Probably not.
You need to be more careful what reports you are reading because that just isn't true.
Just as an example:
The Presbyterian Church USA is the largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S. PCUSA has approximately 10,038 congregations, 1,760,200 members, and 20,562 ministers. The denomination has been steadily losing members and churches since 1983, and has lost 37 percent of its membership since 1992.
On the other hand, an intirely DIFFERENT denomination .... The Presbyterian Church in America is the second largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S. The PCA has approximately 1,808 congregations, 367,033 members, and 4,416 ministers. The denomination has been one of the faster growing denominations in the United States, growing tenfold since 1983.
At a minimum, it suggests he’s not a careful thinker...certainly not a speaker who thinks well on his feet. That’s really surprising given he’s a lifelong priest.
I can’t say they weren’t counting startup denominations that gained from recent divisions in other denominations, but perhaps there was some establishment date they were using.
Sort of like batting average in MLB requiring so many at bats to qualify for the race.
I think you can see that if I start a denomination tomorrow with just me and have 7 at the end of the year that I’ve just experienced 700% growth.
The PCA is not just a startup. They have been around since 1973 (42 years) and was founded as an alternative to the churches no longer teaching the Bible as the true Word of God, and Christ as the “way”. Folks who were tired of their “dead” churches moved to the PCA, and continue to do so.
Your analogy of 7 growing by 1 to be 700% is ridiculous. The PCA has grown by thousands of people, as are other true evangelical denominations who are truly teaching the Bible. We may never reach the massive numbers of your RC church, but that is NOT the point.
You may want to read up on Revelation chapters 2-3, John’s letters to the churches. These “churches” not only represent the actual named early history church, but also are a picture of the types of churches throughout the ages. Then you need to ask yourself which of these churches speaks of YOUR church? (I would be curious to know which one you think is yours) And then which churches does God rebuke and/or deem “dead”.
And please do not tell me that these churches all represent various stages of the RC church because it is the ONLY church. There was no RC church with its ecclesiastica at the time John wrote these letters.
Actually, we don’t know the extent to which the churches in Rev 2-3 represent anything. Personally, I think it’s typology, but that’s just conjecture on my part. My church would be either Thyatira or Pergamum, to be honest with you.
Also, the only church in danger of losing its candlestick was Ephesus....due to loveless legalism.
However, my analogy wasn’t ridiculous because I was attempting to explain why the PCA wasn’t listed above the ASOG in the fairly recent article that I read. I’ll see if I can find it. My thought that it might have to do with establishment would still be valid because who’s to say that PCA’s 1973 date would make the cut, if they were assigning the cut.
My sense is that the demise of the PCUSA has been a huge boon to the PCA. Those disgruntled members have significantly contributed to the PCA increase. I don’t think I would consider that to be a normal growth pattern. Certainly not a growth pattern based on conversions/retentions.
I guess then the dispute is if he is actively involved, cognizant of his words’ effects and a willing tool.
