Rush Limbaugh's woes in the ratings game of partisan talk radio are being highlighted by his left-wing enemies, Media Matters is gleefully reporting that the radio talk show host is on a downward slide.
Salon puts this headline on the piece, "Rush Limbaugh’s downward spiral continues: Another demotion, another step toward irrelevancy."
The piece highlights a recent move down the radio dial Limbaugh was forced to make after being dumped by his host station in Boston, Mass.
Limbaugh is still on the air in Boston but the conservative radio talk show has a new AM home in the city and it "currently boasts a 0.6 rating, trails four non-commercial stations in the market, and becomes yet another big-city, cellar-dwelling outpost that Limbaugh is forced to call home," Salon reports.
The have a lot more Rush bashing here.
Earlier, the New York Daily News revealed that sagging ratings might mean less money for Limbaugh in his next contract noting that "the ratings for syndicated conservative talk have flattened or dropped for several years, despite the gift of a Democratic President to hammer, and some think the format is wearing down."
Daryl Parks, a former talk host, media blogger and self-described Republican is quoted by NYDN and has the opinion that the schtick is wearing thin,
“Today’s talk radio is fast fading into the sunset because of a format stuck with 1990s rhetoric,” he says.
“A constant right-wing political drumbeat no longer resonates.”
The article notes that Rush "lost many advertisers after the Sandra Fluke birth control controversy in 2012, and that could affect what his syndicator, Premiere, will offer when his eight-year, $50 million a year deal expires in 2016."
Despite the ratings woes and aging demographics for the show he is still the "face of syndicated conservative talk radio," according to the NYDN.
He should really give the Libs a heart attack...and run for President.
FR is Rush’s “show prep”! LOL
-— WRKO is moving Jeff Kuhner to the 12-3 slot to assist him in going national. Rush will still be on in Boston. -—
I don’t think his weird accent will play nationally. I’d rather see Howie go national. He’s not as smart, but funnier. We need funny conservatives.
These days the 98.7 in NY is ESPN\

He seems to have become more shrill. I miss his comic song adaptations which now have become rare.
Agreed who knows. As it is many cities have iHeart doing talk and for the next yr or so, they may be obligated to carry Rush at noon. Often they run Sean at 3pm too but in Holyoke MA (WHYN) and Cape Cod (WXTK) they can run Howie then.
Kuhner is from Montreal and it may be so much an accent but his diction which sounds like this—as parodied by one of his callers—”People say to me, Je-heff, what is with these Red Sox? There is no pitchingk. There is no hittingk...we’ll leave that alone...”
He also strategically scheduled a vacation so that he would not have to get involved in the scrum over TPP. That did not evade my notice, for sure.
Have to laugh at Libs who call Rush a “draft-dodging oaf” yet line up to salivate over Bill Clinton.
Rush has become too predictable; time for an overhaul.
Before Rushbo started there was a guy named Bob Grant who did pretty well.
Government K-12 schooling is our nation's **MOST** serious threat! Simply by attending children learn that any voting mob powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling is powerful enough to give them **lots** of “free” stuff. It only took one to three generations of K-12 socialist entitlement schooling to give the nation Woodrow Wilson and FDR.
Today....It is even worse! Nearly every K-12 teacher in this nation was trained by atheistic Marxist professors in Marxist-run colleges of education.
And...Today...Government K-12 schooling is utterly godless in its worldview. Children in these godless schools **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise? And...For the children who do retain their faith they must learn to compartmentalize their faith into a godless public sphere ( the K-12 school) and private life ( home and family).
Have you or anyone ever heard Rush say, “Take your kids out of government schools?” or “ Shut these indoctrination factories down”? I haven't. Now that he has notice the problem ( barely), he just nibbles at the problem and makes a few jokes about it once in a while.
Whether he would like to hear it or not, he is part of the elite. And considering all the things he has been unwilling to challenge in the last 8 or so years, one might question just exactly who influenced those show topic decisions.
I still cannot ever forget him telling his listeners that he would tell us when to act. And now that ship has indeed sailed.... He told us to follow his leadership and then essentially pulled the plug.
Excellent post! Why else do you think they are now pushing for every child to get a “free” lunch in the school lunch program? To undermine the parents. When we try to teach our kids that there’s no free lunch, their response will be “but I got one every day, all the way through school.”
if Rush wasn’t on the radio, i wouldn’t turn it on.
btw, when did the left get to determine what ‘toxic’ programming is? last i checked, he’s one of the few sane people on radio.
sanity != toxic
It’s called the “Rush Limbaugh Radio talk program” because it’s HIS show...HIS network, per say, so if the libtards don’t like it, don’t listen....
He is good at what he does...that’s why we listen to him...maybe he doesn’t talk about what everyone wants to hear about, but hey, the main stream media doesn’t talk about what I want to hear about so I don’t listen to them...
I love Rush, always have, and will listen as long as I can...but to trash him like the libtards are doing, ha ha ha I love it...and so does he.....
Liberals have no standards so they can’t be called hypocrites.
literally since before the first show.
No, but I think the Rush Revere series was a response to the warped history being taught in our schools.
I think his “Operation Hillary” campaign was extremely childish and stupid and he defends it to this day as something masterful. I feel quite certain he and the rest of the MSM knew about Edwards way back in Iowa and had he taken the steps to out it, things might have been different.
>> More humorous updates and Paul Shanklin parodies wouldnt hurt <<
Amen to that. Rush used to be upbeat and cheerful much of the time, with all kinds of hilarious material. In those days, I tended to think of him as a sort of “Falstaff” — a man whose deep wisdom and serious analysis was enriched by ironic humor.
But no longer. Since the abject failure of his “Operation Chaos” strategy in 2008, it seems to me that El Rushbo has become too much mired in doom and gloom. So during Rush’s time slot, I now listen most days to Dennis Praeger.
