Donald Trump’s ‘Mexican Rapists’ Rhetoric Will Keep the Republican Party Out of the White House
Washington Post ^ | June 17 | Jonathan Capehart

Posted on 06/18/2015 8:25:25 PM PDT by nickcarraway

In the 45-minute “festival of narcissism” that was Donald Trump’s rambling presidential announcement, one particularly nasty passage proved him to be a menace to the Republican Party. It was the one about Mexican immigrants.

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. [Applause] Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

That plays well with many far-right Republican primary voters desperately clinging to an America that no longer exists. But such rhetoric is the death knell for the GOP — and the party knows it. The Republican autopsy of its thumping in the 2012 presidential elections was blunt in its self-assessment. “Asked to describe Republicans,” the report notes on page 8, “[focus group attendees] said that the Party is scary,’ ‘narrow minded,’ and ‘out of touch’ and that we were a Party of ‘stuffy old men.’ Sounds like Trump.

Do not confuse abortion with profit making business where middle class people can earn a good living. Totally separate issues.

Would you cast a vote for someone who uses the federal government to enrich himself?

That pretty much rules out every politician out there.

You can override the SCOTUS? I had no idea you had such powers. I seldom pull my hair out over what I can not control.

You can override the SCOTUS?

Where did I say that?

I just wouldn't vote for people who support certain things.

A few weeks ago a 16 year old girl was raped by 3 MS-13 gang members in the country illegally. The MSM completely ignored it.

The Presidency was not designed to be the CEO of all America. That role was designed to make the best decisions in the interest of the people.

What you are saying is that Trump needs to be the CEO, right? Well then, what would we need Congress for then? The very people who have the power of the purse.

The problem is that we have had too many presidents who refuse to veto spending bills that have put us in this mess. And then we have a dufus in there right now who has as his prime mission to destroy us economically.

Trump would still have to work with the entire Congress and the media. What is he going to do FIRE everybody?

Let me state more clearly what I think...

Any manufacturing business (Planned parenthood is not such a business) is very good for middle class jobs. Trump emphasizes the horrible trade deficits we have with 90% of countries we do business with. Why other GOP candidates are silent on this issue?

I honestly and sincerely think that you are 100% correct.

Think about it: Trump gives to Democrats, loves Bill Clinton, is massively pro-gun control, has been pro-abortion (even recently), viciously attacks conservatives like Ted Cruz, and if any of his boosters here are honest, Trump could have announced that he was running as a Democrat, and no one would have batted an eye.

Trump is liberal in all the ways it counts, and is working to wreck the chances of any conservative running.

Where did you find the word CEO in my post? I can’t find it!

I am talking about the huge trade deficits with 90% of countries we trade with. You do not see that as a huge problem? Which other candidates talk about that problem as starting point in their speeches? I only hear Trump talking about it. He wants to re-negotiate all trading pacts and rules. I see that as a very positive agenda to improve middle class jobs.

That pretty much rules out every politician out there.

So name the examples of this occurring with the current crop of declared GOP POTUS candidates.

Come on be fair! What Trump gave to democrats is less than 0.001% of his met worth -or less than 1/10,000 of his net worth. I would posit Trump is extremely stingy in giving money to democrats. He should give a bit more to insulate his businesses from being raided by the tax & regulations loving democrats.

Dana Parino had her nose out of joint over Trump. She claimed Trump said he could get “all” of the jobs back from China. She was stretching the truth for her boy Jeb.

Could you plainly and concisely explain why, if Trump is concerned about overseas manufacturing, his own Macy’s clothing line is made in China, Bangladesh, and Mexico?

And it has been for years, even as he screams about Mexico and China.

I have asked several of his supporters, and so far none will answer without making excuses for him.

> “But such rhetoric is the death knell for the GOP”

Bien Monsieur Jonathan de Capehart, if what you say is twue, then you and your democrat friends must be very very happy; j’imagine que vous soyez en fait très content.

Presque tout le monde devrait savoir que ‘le Donald’ soit comme un clown, excentrique, pas un candidat sérieux.

But on the other hand Monsieur, La Huillary, ahhhhh, a paragon of the virtue, nest-ce pas Monsieur de Capehart?

Anyone who gets a paycheck from the Federal government. I never heard of a Senator who left office poorer than he went in. I will admit some are enriching themselves from the state governments.

He donated 1,000 to the Republicans.

Look how much he donated to the Democrats.

And I see you left out his views on abortion.

But Trump is just saying things, he doesn't mean it. Trump's actual manufacturing takes place in China, Bangladesh, and Mexico. If Trump were president, the middle class would suffer terribly. Trump works with the worst wing of chamber of commerce types. Putting you trust nin a reality TV Kardashian doesn't seem like a good idea.
