A federal law enforcement source has identified the man suspected of killing nine people inside a historic black church on Wednesday evening as 21-year-old Dylann Storm Roof. He was captured Thursday morning in Shelby, N.C.
....Since January, Roof has been arrested twice, both at the Columbiana Mall in Columbia, S.C. According to arrest records obtained CBS News investigative producer Laura Strickler, on February 28, Roof went into a Bath and Body Works store wearing all black and asked "out of the ordinary questions," including how many associates were working, when they closed and what time they leave. Mall employees complained and when an officer approached him Roof said "his parents were pressuring him to get a job." The officer noted that Roof was becoming increasingly nervous. He searched Roof and found "orange strips" that Roof said were "suboxone," a Schedule 3 narcotic. Roof was arrested and his 2000 Hyundai Elantra was towed.

I felt silly after posting that but I cant believe all the responses. Lifted my spirits more than anything has in a while :) Thanks!
It’s group rights/ group identity/ tribal thinking rather than individualistic thinking.
Same logic that drives a lot of wars- like the French and Indian war. One of your tribe members did this to one of my tribe members, therefore any of Us has a right to do it to any of you, if you do not or cannot catch and turn over the one who did the original crime. Thus, in this way of thinking, “justice” can be “justifiably” served even on individuals who are personally innocent.
When everyone starts thinking this way it gets very messy.
He probably sat in church for an hour trying to figure out which person he wanted to leave as his witness to “tell the world.”
uh, I never said we should ban the drugs. All I pointed out was that it appears this murderer was apparently on them.
This seems to make him akin to Adam Lanza, another apparent murderer on drugs.
Trying to make some comparisons. :)
Interesting.
Thanks. I just started a thread about Memorial Day murders in Chicago...13 people killed last month over the weekend there.
No statement from Obama. No blaming the NRA.
I’m praying intensely for you. May God heal you in body, mind, and spirit. And whatever He decides, may you fulfill your purpose, live a meaningful life, be a blessing to others, and find joy and happiness.
God bless.
Thank you so much. It means a lot. It really does.
a good question, but who can answer?
More so than the average Joe, ended up a geologist though...
Well, they’re not killing each other, just being the perfect communists ants are :-)
Their behavior, based on their origin, is probably associated with the “tweak” in their living environment being this far north. If you look at an individual ant as the carrier organism for a subroutine of a larger self replicating program, that subroutine is having troubles meeting some of it’s necessary requirements in the form of variables in something like temperature, moisture, or nutrient sources.
I.e. There may be a certain temperature need for satellite colonies that also must fit into a moisture range that isn’t found often in the tropics, but happens to ideally occur in the confines of an electronic device up here.
It will take that kind of approach to noodle out a solution to efficiently terminate colonies, or finding something in south America that happens to be endemic there that keeps them in check but doesn’t do something odd here like make chickens feet fall off...
Have you ever seen what happens to a black ant when it wanders around a red ant colony, or vice-versa?
The difference, hopefully, is that people are not ants. But if people choose to live in anthill urban societies and adopt pismire political systems, well....
They’re 2 different species, though ants will war with other colonies. Colony workers don’t twist off on their own though...
