A federal law enforcement source has identified the man suspected of killing nine people inside a historic black church on Wednesday evening as 21-year-old Dylann Storm Roof. He was captured Thursday morning in Shelby, N.C.
....Since January, Roof has been arrested twice, both at the Columbiana Mall in Columbia, S.C. According to arrest records obtained CBS News investigative producer Laura Strickler, on February 28, Roof went into a Bath and Body Works store wearing all black and asked "out of the ordinary questions," including how many associates were working, when they closed and what time they leave. Mall employees complained and when an officer approached him Roof said "his parents were pressuring him to get a job." The officer noted that Roof was becoming increasingly nervous. He searched Roof and found "orange strips" that Roof said were "suboxone," a Schedule 3 narcotic. Roof was arrested and his 2000 Hyundai Elantra was towed.

The issue is not the caliber but the father giving an unstable kid a gun. I’ve been shooting since I was 9 years old but was supervised by adults until I proved to my parents that I was responsible handling firearms. Today I am an NRA chief range safety officer, and pistol instructor. I’ve seen kids that should not be handling weapons and told their parents.
I firmly agree.
Disarming the honest people never ends well.
Answer is still no. Are you?
Do I need to be one to have an opinion?
Well done, arbitrary.squid.
I completely agree. I am just saying that “gun free zones” aren’t the answer. Banning guns isn’t the answer. Had nobody ever invented firearms, this nutcase could have run down nine people with a car as they left church.

Well thanks, I guess, but I still don’t understand your line of reasoning in asking.
So sorry to hear what has happened to you. I’ve been enjoying your posts since you became active fairly recently and hope you keep feeling good enough to stick around a while!
Thanks. The board is great and I plan on staying :)
Not Obama, but what Obama has wrought. Baltimore, Ferguson etc. Definitely a bad decision by the father, but a decision confounded by all the black on white violence Obama has promoted and encouraged.
it does same something when most of these killers...at least the white ones....are on prescribed drugs....suboxone
is not prescribed lightly.
the pharmacist should have picked up on it...
I suppose we could ask how many mass murders are prevented from these drugs being prescribed....
the rich kids all went to Wildwood....
He TOLD me which of four pharmacies on Staten Island to go to. Either there was a kickback involved or he was truly insane and cruel. And like a sheep, I just blindly obeyed.
I tortured myself over that decision for about eight years and then just let it go. What’s the point of the hatred and regrets anymore. It wont change anything.
And after so many years of hate and guessing and double guessing, I’m done.
I can’t believe four FReepers replied. What a GREAT board.
Sorry you had to go through all that after the medical incident. Your comments and contributions to the forum are great, though. We’re all addicted to food and water!
we are trained to "accept" all the off beat, crazy, insane, antisocial, perverted people with a grin and a shrug....
I'm not going to....a spade is a spade...strange young men used to be in a hospital or a jail...
Good questions. The article doesn't answer the questions. But if nothing else- the details it does give seem to indicate some sort of mental instability in this person. It wouldn't be a surprise to learn he is a psycho.
He looks creepy- even from the video. I wonder if the people in the church felt uncomfortable when he walked in? They must have.
It's just terribly sad. Prayers for comfort for the families- Lord please be near to them in their time grief and welcome home the souls of those departed from this life- In the name Jesus I Pray -Amen
Lots of Canadians also went to Wildwood and Wildwood Crest.
The beaches are free there still, unlike other beaches in NJ where you have to buy a daily or weekly badge.
Seaside Heights has cleaned up a bit, especially after Sandy—it is still a fun place.
