Pope Francis blames wealthy nations for the plight of the poor in his anticipated encyclical on Global Warming junk science.
Red Francis also says Global warming is real and wealthy countries must do more to save the planet. The National Journal reported:

This Pope is sitting on how much in treasure in Vatican City?
Same here Maris C.
And welcome to Free Republic.
Maybe the Pope ought to stick to matters of religion, and not delve into the areas of politics and economics as he has done...because he doesn’t know what the Hell he’s talking about. Marxism has been proven to be an utter failure, so FORCED sharing of the fruits of one’s labor should be off the table. Further, many of those poor people wouldn’t even be alive but for advances in medicine and sanitation made by the rich nations. Simple laws of economics dictate that over time those who are willing to work for less (i.e. the poor) will get more jobs and begin to enjoy the fruits of their OWN labor. This is ALREADY happening - look at how the wealth and income of the average Indian (south Asian variety) and Chinese person has increased over the last 20 years, as rich, Western nations have shifted production to those nations (among many others). Give it time, Francis, and go back to your basic Economics texts - preferably not those written by those who hate Capitalism.
I’m not Catholic, but didn’t Jesus say words to the effect that the poor will always be with us? If that’s the case and this guy is a believer (and one would hope that the head of this rather large and long-standing religious organization IS a believer), then it shouldn’t bother him so much that he puts his and his organization’s credibility on the line with such drivel.
To quote a line from a movie, “Lighten up, Francis.”
Me thinks you got the spelling wrong. Replace "b" with "tr" and the question should be correct.
Maris I will pray for you. No matter the churches doctrine there is only One who is infallible. Go to Him in prayer and rely on Him in this dark time.
Fair enough. But even if the Pope has been wildly mistranslated, why he is even spending a second's worth of time on global warming? Of all the things to publish an encyclical on, why publish one on that?
The Pope could also order the auctioning off of the hundreds of billions of dollars worth of art work, jewelry, etc., with the proceeds to be used to feed the poor, educate them, etc. Much of that was basically extorted from poor peasants over the last 1,500 or so years anyway - why not return it to their descendants?
Never. His response, "eh, who am I to judge?" says it all. Don't forget, he told atheists that they can go to heaven...the heaven they don't believe exists.
This “red pope” hasn’t familiarized himself with the history of Vatican mixing politics into religious decree, has he? Any wonder the church’s vulnerability grows under this order?
perhaps the pope should practice what he preaches and share some the dollars he controls..
He's the godfather!!
Property rights.
Rule of law.
Free markets.
Free minds.
The quote is ‘love of money...’ not money...’ and it’s from Scripture. I’m sure God knows all there is to know about both human beings and the nature of evil. Eric Hoffer, on the other hand has much to learn.
wow.
It is a fallacy that some are poor because others aren’t. I think even most leftists in this country will admit that.
I never met the guy. :)
We should ALL be starving apparently
That would be so much better
lol
Try just believing what God the Holy Spirit has said in Holy Scripture. You will avoid all the lies, sexual deviancy, greed, elitism, etc. promulgated by your church throughout the ages.
And Poop Frank wouldn't know God if God Himself, wearing an "I AM GOD" t-shirt, surrounded by a billion-voice heavenly choir singing "He is God", picked Frank up by the collar and bellowed "I AM GOD" in his face.
The New York Times and Time Magazine report the value of the entire Vatican City-State at $10-$15 billion. The Vatican administers a flock of 1 billion people.
In comparison, the Harvard University endowment is $35 billion.
Does the current pope have socialist sympathies? It sure seems that way.
These old encyclicals might make you feel better:
On Atheistic Communism (1937)
On Socialism (1878)
On the Doctrines of the Modernists (1907)
Encyclicals are pastoral letters written to the bishops of the Church and are not regarded as infallible.
“Social Justice” is a big Catholic thing. I had to take SJ classes while at a Catholic uni.
