Disgraced NAACP president Rachel Dolezal pleads to be given another chance

In recent days, there have been two resignations that caught my eye:

The first was from Professor Sir Tim Hunt, FRS. He's a Nobel Laureate - a genuine one, not a pretend one like Michael E Mann, who is the Rachel Dolezal of Nobel Laureates. But this bloke Hunt is the real deal - He won the Nobel in 2001 and the Royal Society's almost as prestigious Royal Medal for his discoveries on cell-cycle control. He is a brilliant man.

Six days ago, Sir Tim was in Seoul for some science conference and was required to make a few remarks, among which was a septuagenarian scientist's ill advised attempt at humor:

Let me tell you about my trouble with girls. Three things happen when they are in the lab. You fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them, they cry.

Not the funniest joke in the world, but the genius of a scientist is often inversely proportional to his social ease. So he did not anticipate that a throwaway line about how girls are so emotional about these things would result in the girls getting so emotional about these things

In “Atlas Shrugged”, most of the capable people disappeared (”went Galt”) to show the world how much it needed them.

Today, the world is hunting down capable people and chasing them out of power because the world is eager to show how much it doesn’t need them.

I would dearly love to try this social experiment...libs get their own country to run any way they wish for five-ten years. Then we could really sit on the couch, eat popcorn, and watch the insanity from afar. Maybe we’d enjoy it so much, we’d like a permanent split. A country without nutty libs running things...wouldn’t that be great?

A whole lot easier would be to have 50 sovereign states all competing to be the best. Totally insane for a few people on the Potomac dictating to the rest of us.

Liberals already run their own governments, and not very well.

California is a good example of what happens when they’re in charge - high taxes, lots of red tape, kooky policies that promote poor-vs-working people conflicts, enviro-fanatics in control, etc.

That's funny as hell or being true.

Indeed. The big-picture moral of Steyn’s piece is this one line:

“...sometimes a society becomes too stupid to survive”

I miss the old America and absolutely despise the new one. The former was a blessing and the latter is a fraud.

But even California is still about 40% conservative. I’d just like to see libs try to run states without help from conservative tax-payers who fund much of the nonsense.

It seems liberals are going overboard on the wackiness meter.
