Have you? I trust Ted Cruz if and until he betrays me. He has not done so yet.
Go Cruz. They’re trying to Palinize you.
I’m with you!
Expecting the rude name callers anytime.
Dude you are so wrong. Quite a few FReepers apparently need reading/comprehension lesssons.
I see you did not brother to read what I posted, :( I even bolded the part there is says
even though the rules of the Senate specify that ending a filibuster requires the consent of 60 senators
It called cloture, see it takes 60 senators to end debate. Or put another way 41 senators can stop a bill from become law. 41 not 51. One more time 41 senators can stop a bill from becoming law. TPA raises the bar from 41 to 51. It's the nuclear option for trade bills. It the cloture vote.
Cruz "The cloture vote was the vote that mattered" Apr 30, 2015
“Yes Cruz has hurt himself badly with the activist base.”
You are so full of bull crap...
He has said that, but he has also said he’d legalize ‘em.
That’s amnesty.
Answer is in post #206.
None of the announced or expected candidates has said that they are for enforcing the law. They are all for some degree of amnesty.
I care less about this and more about the fact that Cruz is ready to join forces with the President we all know only wants to hurt and destroy our country.
I am one of the millions that feel completely betrayed by Cruz’s illogical partnership with Obama against many conservatives. Look at where we are. Cruz is arguing and acting for Obama and against a great conservative like Jeff Sessions. Everything is now opposite.
His betrayal and illogical behavior is the reason articles and questions like this will appear more and more. Because Cruz’s vote and then his championing of weakening Congress to Obama’s benefit is SO INEXPLICABLE.
Anybody is still welcome for argue for Cruz, but I am one of the folks that not only believed in him, but donated to his campaign. Now I am left angry and only happy that I saw Cruz is yet another politician that would also do the opposite of what they believe in before I wasted a vote on him.
On my scorecard now he is not much better than the likes of McCain, Romney, Rubio, Jeb, and unfortunately Walker who also is willing to give Obama increased power to hurt our country in the TPA as well.
I’m tired of being angry about Cruz. I am now just disappointed and feel so betrayed.
TPA is NOT a SINGLE ISSUE. The parts of the TPP that have already been leaked out show the council created by TPP will be allowed to rule on immigration, possession of firearms, and even labor law. The TPP, which the TPA makes very easy to shove down our throat, makes that governing body that can then do anything else it wants including completely re-writing even the founding document of the TPP. Everyone in the Union will only have one equal vote and once we are in Congress has no recourse.
Although it is true they couldn’t actually re-write our law in the US. But there has always been a fine mechanism in such agreements and I am sure with Obama negotiating for us there will be a tool created to hurt us badly if we do not COMPLY.
I could go on even more, but suffice it to say there are now millions of people that wanted to eagerly support and believe in Cruz. Now we are left feeling betrayed by him like we have been by so many other politicians. His behavior and willingness to do the inexplicable has made us move on in our search for a worthy candidate.
I am tired of politicians betraying me and I WILL TAKE NO MORE. The path of “he’s the best we have” is not only false, but insulting. This is a nation of 320 million people. I do not have to choose my next President out of a handful of people. The election is over 16 months away and the first primaries are 8 months away. That same path has also given us candidates that conservatives are not excited about and our Presidential election turnout has been terrible.
Cruz has done many things that are admirable too, but I don’t have to agree with a nominee on every issue. The problem I have is Cruz’s betrayal. He told us he is so principled and Obama cannot be trusted, and then inexplicably voted and championed for the opposite. Disagreeing on issues is one thing, but betrayal is a disqualifier because you never know when a person like that will act against you again.
It would totally be different for me if Cruz from the beginning made statements he would support something like this and then did it. But this came out of nowhere and teaming with Obama is the act of a Fool. That is Betrayal and not a disagreement.
I will vote for a candidate that I find I mostly agree with, as long as I can believe in their overall guiding principles.
This whole TPA has taken away my trust in Cruz and I will NEVER vote for someone I cannot trust. I will more gladly vote for someone I do not agree with on everything, but whom I trust.
So nominating someone that has clearly acted against what is good for our nation like Cruz will just ensure another democrat becomes the next President. If you are OK with that then fine. Everybody has their vote and we have all watched this play out 2 elections in a row. Cruz will be no different if he is our next nominee.
Has he? And whatever happened to Trust but Verify?
OK correction for him. TPA greases the skids for TPP.
I guess some folks want to engage in word games and not substance that Cruz betrayed us.
I support the Task Force report and its recommendations aimed at building a safer and more prosperous North America. Economic pros- perity and a world safe from terrorism and other security threats are no doubt inextricably linked. While governments play an invaluable
role in both regards, we must emphasize the imperative that economic investment be led and perpetuated by the private sector. There is no force proven like the market for aligning incentives, sourcing capital, and producing results like financial markets and profit-making busi- nesses. This is simply necessary to sustain a higher living standard for the poorest among ustruly the measure of our success. As such, investment funds and financing mechanisms should be deemed attractive instruments by those committing the capital and should only be devel- oped in conjunction with market participants.

Crud, what is wrong with so many Freepers. Are all of you nuts?
Weird, ain't it...
Cantor is the same thing as Cruz...his wife is a local Dem who was on the boards of multiple corporations including The Virginia State pension.
Sorry conservatives, the snakes have learned how to dazzle conservative Christians with a lot of showy talk(ie: that big roll out that Cruz did at Liberty University) The two party system needs to be dumped from our consciousness and a new revolutionary spirit needs to be born out of the same impetus that guided our founders!(that is what the elites are truly afraid of!)
There are MAJOR differences between the TPA and the TPP. Those who switch these around, calling the TPA a “hidden agreement” or that the TPP was passed last week are completely ignorant and are causing real confusion and swirl, leading people like me to correct time and time again.
Confusion will not help either side, and I will stomp on all occasions of purposeful deceit or continued stupidity.
“It boils down to TRUST”
The American public does not trust Congress and they don’t trust Barack H Obama. With good reason.
What this pack of NWO loving quislings should be doing is just passing legislation to cut the corporate income tax in half and encourage the billions of dollars of off shore money to come flowing back in our country to create jobs. Let Malaysia built a plant here and employ our workers.
TPA and TPP are not about trade. They are about fast tracking the wealth of our country into the hands of transnational corporations and the banking cartel.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just may have a future as a standup political comedian!

That’s not really a satisfactory answer, it’s narrative fiction with some dialog thrown in.
We are in a very deep hole on trade and it’s past time to begin taking this seriously. They need to change the process, no more hocum and woo, no more high pressure sleezy used car salesman tactics, let’s try for some transparency. Allegedly they have ALREADY been negotiating for six years, and trust me, people can be very patient when there is a buck to be made, remarkably and astoundingly patient!
