We don’t have a STEM worker shortage. We have a shortage of STEM workers willing to work for 50-70% less than they make today.

H-1B encourages companies to lay off high-skilled Americans and replace them with H-1B foreigners — because they can hire them at a lower wage.

Companies have been doing this for decades.

In the early 1980s I knew an H-1B hire who had 2 PhDs in mechanical and electrical engineering, several patents in his name, etc. The company in mid-America hired him in at a salary lower than it was paying clerks and secretaries.

==

Cruz wanting to increase H-1Bs — not good. Not when there are 90 million of employment age who were forced out of work in the Obama economy.

I know a little something about the H-1b "business"

Anyone who says it is necessary in order to provide adequate Tech Talent is a liar.

A liar's liar.

What they REALLY should say is it keeps the cost of tech talent low by flooding the market with IT folks who are willing to work at $20-$30/hour instead of the $70/hour they would have to pay a US citizen.

To many folks in rural parts of the country, $30/hr doesn't sound too bad.

But in the cities of the West Coast it's near poverty wage.

A few hours ago I got another fund raise request from the Cruz campaign. I sent them a reply that no money and no support what so ever because of his H1B visa and TPP stand and to please take me off their list.

I do regret sending him money twice since he announced and I voted for him as my congressman.

We need more foreign workers to replace the lazy ones that went to college and were working before. /s

“More apologetics please”.

Okay, Ted Cruz has overextended himself to leagal immigrant voters by trying to place an ammendment in an immigration bill that would raise the bar on the quality of leagal immigrants that come in to this country.
It does appear to be a disconnect in his understanding of where HB1 people end up.
He put forth the 500% amendment knowing it would be
shot down.
This is political strategy.
I think he has underestimated the resulting outrage.
Our side does not understand strategy, it’s all knee jerk reactions and emotional meltdown.
So it goes back to the vetting process.
I think the whole secret PTT is his big problem now.
The Establishment Uniparty is going to keelhull him now.

Ted Cruz is throwing it all away. Even the majority of American-born Hispanics want illegal aliens to be deported.

I’d settle for that if he SHUT DOWN ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

If true, this is a dealbreaker.

This would total out the American tech sector.

You’ve been pegged as a troll by more than one longtime Freeper since you showed up.

Which, by the way, was three days after Cruz announced his run for the presidency. Since then, you’ve had it out for Cruz and pushed your boy Rand Paul.

If the story is correct and Cruz wants to increase HB workers to 325,000 a year, most of whom will probably come from India, then he lost my vote right there.

we don’t need more foreign labor as we have plenty of our own. Cruz is wrong on another issue. That’s two of them recently. will he go for three?

ted cruise has lost my vote.... I would have no problem with the work program if it was not for the fact that it is used drive down wages rather then getting needed talent. we need to change the program so that a company only uses the work program when trying to hirer a us citizen fails my suggestion would be to sell the visas to the business at a prohibitive cost and if the government does this have no limit to how many visas can be sold the expense in a company get6ting a visa can limit it.

As long as they occupy this country legally I’m in favor of it, until they try to change the laws to benefit only themselves.

I’m afraid my wishes are too late because the democrats found a way to bypass any possibility of legality long ago.
