Now we’re going to eat something far worse.

The democrats and unions are already lining up with hands out and a list of demands. I’ve already seen at least one tweet to Nancy Pelosi calling for an open border and aid package for Cuba.

They won’t get a Cruz vote for it but they’ll get enough democrats to get something far worse.

“Does TPA give the President more authority?

No. TPA ensures that Congress has the ability to set the objectives up-front for free trade agreements. “

I read this mendacious crap and picture someone on an exclusive golf course saying “I bet Ted could get those stupid knuckle-dragging constitutional conservatives to go along with this...”

You’re not putting out the fire Cruz started with the right by posting these apologetics. Regardless if Cruz supports or doesn’t support TPP, when TPA is used to pass Obamatrade, he and walker and all the other GOP sellouts will own it.

As for your propaganda graphic, I trust Sen Sessions:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/11/jeff-sessions-issues-final-critical-alert-obamatrade-just-like-amnesty-obamacare/

Ted Cruz is a sellout. I can understand your need to rationalize and stick your head in the sand, it hurts when your icons turn on you. But you should ask yourself now: am I a lemming or a man.

"But, generally speaking, the Protective system in these days is conservative, while the Free Trade system works destructively. It breaks up old nationalities and carries antagonism of proletariat and bourgeoisie to the uttermost point. In a word, the Free Trade system hastens the Social Revolution. In this revolutionary sense alone, gentlemen, I am in favor of Free Trade. - KARL MARX

No. Nothing in the agreement forces Congress to change any law.

Oh yeah? Then why is the draft agreement under lock and key?

...Nothing in the agreement forces Congress to change any law. TPA explicitly provides that nothing in any trade agreement can change U.S. law. Congress is the only entity that can make U.S. law, and Congress is the only entity that can change U.S. law. Nothing about TPP or TPA could change that.

So Congress changed the law requiring meat labels have country of origin just because? The ruling by the World Trade Court had nothing to do with it.

If we want the next president (hopefully a Republican) to be able to negotiate free-trade agreements to restart our economy and create jobs here at home then we must reinstate TPA. With a Republican president in office, Senate Democrats would almost certainly vote party-line to block TPA, so now is the only realistic chance.

Fairy dust and unicorn farts? Is that supposed to incentivize or persuade people?

There is no final language on TPP because negotiations are still ongoing and have been since late 2009.
So why the push for passage now?

Moreover, Obama is going to be president for just 18 more months.
What is wrong with waiting a mere 18 months until he is out of office?

This article raises many questions.

Are you the official Ted Cruz propaganda machine. What else do you have to sell. get off the Ted Cruz kick. The Guy sold himself for 30 Pieces of silver.

To the administrator please scrutnize this propaganda better. There are Freepers whom will not continually have to be beratd because we can think for ourselves that ted cruz is not for america but is only for Obama. cruz has to do the backstroke in order to make up for what and whom he lost. ted Cruz is not the candidate for America. A first term Senator, nave we as voters and conservatives seen what a first tem senaor has done to America. Please do something differently about the Cruz propaganda

Does the United States give up Sovereignty by entering into TPP?
No. Nothing in the agreement forces Congress to change any law. TPA explicitly provides that nothing in any trade agreement can change U.S. law. Congress is the only entity that can make U.S. law, and Congress is the only entity that can change U.S. law. Nothing about TPP or TPA could change that.

Really? How can the writer know this as...
There is no final language on TPP because negotiations are still ongoing and have been since late 2009.

Is "faith" in this writer's assertions all I'm supposed to have?

More questions.

Trade Act of 2015
...the agreement referred to in section 101(d)(2) of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act...
...the agreement referred to in section 101(d)(13) of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act...

Lots of definitions come from there.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Uruguay Round Agreements Act’’

Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and the Role of Congress in Trade Policy Technically, TPA is not necessary to begin or even conclude trade negotiations, but it is widely understood to be a key element of defining congressional authority, and of passing trade agreement implementing legislation.

If enacted, TPA-2015 will expire on July 1, 2021, pr ovided an extension disapproval resolution is not introduced and passed by either chamber by July 1, 2018 (see below). TPA-2015 may be used to consider potential agreements resulting from several ongoing negotiations, including •The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a regional FTA the United States is negotiating with 11 partner countries in the Asia-Pacific.
•The Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) being negotiated with the European Union (EU).
•A Trade in Services Agreement (TISA), a plurilateral trade negotiation to seek expanded commitments in services trade.
•An Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA), a plurilateral agreement being negotiated at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to reduce or eliminate tariff and nontariff barriers on goods to promote the environment.

It may also be used to consider any agreement resulting from the Doha Round of WTO multilateral trade negotiations.

Nobody looks to the future.

Cruz blew it, and his explanation is pejorative. I am disappointed in Cruz for supporting this, but even more so that he thinks we don’t understand.

Thank you for posting this. If I understand correctly the TPA is the rule book for what future trade agreements can or cannot allow. The full text of TPA is available here https://www.congress.gov/114/bills/hr1314/BILLS-114hr1314eas.pdf. The TPP is a trade agreement still in negotiation and once finalized will be available to the public for 60 days before a vote, guaranteed by the TPA. If TPA is not in place then it seems there is more room for secrecy and shenanigans for all future trade agreements including TPP. Those on this thread are simply new here for the single intent of undermining Cruz and Walker (I’ve seen your posts and sign up date), or they are against Free Trade as a rule. Or they feel there is too much wiggle room for dems to change, or over ride, the TPA? I am not arguing for or against but trying to cut through the detractor’s talking points and pin point the legitimate questions or concerns.

“Only congress can change US laws.”

How cute. You think that passing TPA with amendments will stop Obama from using it to gut America.

We’re Rachel Dolezal (famed NAACP activist) and Ted Cruz separated at birth? They certainly look like twin frauds.
