Sessions: ‘A Vote for TAA Next Week Is a Vote to Send Fast-Track to The President’s Desk’

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) warns:

It appears there will be another attempt by Tuesday to force through new executive powers for President Obama. A vote for TAA next week is a vote to send fast-track to the President’s desk and to grant him these broad new executive authorities. If that happens, it will empower the President to form a Pacific Union encompassing 40 percent of the world’s economy and 12 nations—each with one equal vote. ... Fast-track will not only apply to the Pacific Union, but can expedite an unlimited number of yet-unseen international compacts for six years. There are already plans to advance through fast-track the Trade in Services Agreement, the goal of which includes labor mobility among more than 50 nations, further eroding the ability of the American people to control their own affairs.

Americans do not want this, did not ask for it, and are pleading from their hearts for their lawmakers to stop it.

The same people projecting the benefits of leaping into a colossal new economic union could not even accurately predict the impact of a standalone agreement with South Korea. The latter deal, which promised to boost our exports to them $10 billion, instead only budged them less than $1 billion, while South Korea’s imports to us increased more than $12 billion, nearly doubling our trading deficit. This new agreement will only further increase our trading deficit: opening our markets to foreign imports while allowing our trading partners to continue their non-tariff barriers that close their markets to ours. ...

Maybe a big twitter campaign. I've stayed away from twitter because I prefer posting, but whatever gets the attention that the base isn't happy is what we need.

making the lives of these Republican Traitors a living Hell

Trouble is they have at least a fifteen year head start on doing just that to us.

Smug self righteous Ryan is among my three most hated Republicans now. Now I’m glad the dork laughed in his face during the debates.

I was surprised at the News tonight that Obama lost. He didn't lose, they just postponed the vote. He wins on Tuesday because the Republicans will vote with the Dems to fund the displaced workers. After all, what's a few bucks more when you're already $18 trillion in debt. The RINOs are laughing at us.

Good point. The TAA card can be played at any time. TPA is already passed. Caesar changes the rules to fit his own agenda and on his own timeline.

All the more reason to stay home on election day!

Is there a way they can keep the bill from going back to the Senate and just have another vote on it in the House? I'm not sure that's possible or at least from what I've read it has to be sent back to the Senate. Of course, all money bills originate in the House and yet we have Obamacare, so . . .

If there's some technicality or trick that can have it voted on again rather than returned to the Senate, does the TPA being passed mean that as an element of another package that is trade related, this time passing the TAA would be considered a trade bill or part of a trade bill and therefore once TPA is signed, only require a simple majority rather than a two-thirds majority to pass ?

I ask, because if that's the case, a lot of democrats will have the opportunity to be on record as having voted against TAA knowing that it doesn't really matter as long as there is a simple majority of Republican votes to pass it. That would cover they tails with the base but keep the money behind TPP passing happy as well.

It’s always about the money with these crooks. For 20 years, Michael Savage has repeated that the Democratic and Republican parties are like two mafia families that years ago arranged an “accomodation.” Savage calls them Republicrats and Democans. The party mob bosses take turn turns at the helm and control of the money spigot.

I’m disgusted with Cruz for pushing this so hard all over the media. His base is the conservatives. I think he just lost half of his base. He obviously doesn’t care.

I’ll believe Jeff Sessions over Cruz any day. Just the fact that it’s being crafted in secret should have been enough for the Republicans to step away from it. They did not have to give away the store.

They owned the Senate and the House. They could have started putting together an outline of a new trade agreement that a new Republican President could support.

I don’t know. I’m certain that if Caesar’s congress can use a dirty trick, they will. It’s just what they are and what they do.

Yes, I finally woke up about 8 years ago after watching CSpan carry the debate on a bill that was important to me. There’s only a few good guys like Jeff Sessions in Washington.

Ted Cruz is a true Patriot, and an incomparable statesman. However, having graduated from Princeton and Harvard, Sen. Cruz’s doctrinaire conservatism is difficult for some to comprehend— it does take a certain I. Q. quotient.

Regrettably, those who don’t comprehend, simply lash out - and betray a vitriolic nativism.

No problem, we understand. Spew away.

Agreed. At least I won’t have the “vote with my heart or vote with my head” conflict anymore.
