Washington, DC1031 Despite staying largely silent on the issuehes quietly supported it for weeks, but hasnt said anything at all in quite a long timeWisconsin Gov. Scott Walker crossed most conservatives by coming out in support of Obamatrade on Thursday evening in an interview with Bloombergs Mark Halperin.
Walker, Bloombergs Halperin and John McCormick wrote, expressed agreement with President Barack Obama on the pressing issue of fast-track trade legislation.
Walker said he supports giving Obama the authority to submit trade agreements to Congress for an expedited, up-or-down vote without amendments, they wrote, before quoting Walker himself.
If we dont go down this path, were going to be at a competitive disadvantage, and so I think it just makes sense, Walker said.

LOL, Trump, really? Tell me, what else in his past makes you like him?
Also, tell me WHY Duncan Hunter voted for it last night....if it was so bad, and he was so against it, WHY did he vote for it?
Get Ready for the Rapture
In other words, there are no perfect candidates. Everybody knows that. The question is how many imperfections you're willing to tolerate before you write them off. Jeb may as well be a "moderate" Clinton-style Democrat as far as I'm concerned. I disagree with Cruz and Walker on this trade deal issue, and Walker has talked out of both sides of his mouth on immigration, but they've both taken strong positions and actions on issues that no establishment Republican or Democrat would take.
Exactly. I'm completely in the dark about what's in this bill. We The People put these idiots into office.. tell us what's in the damn bill!!!
It’s called Robo Trolling.
I bet dollars to donuts that the Rand Paul Neonuts are up to this.
They try to drive a wedge between Ted Cruz and his supporters, but yet refuse to see the big 800 pound gorilla in the room with Rand Paul’s embracing homosexuals in the party, reducing defense spending, giving amnesty to black criminals, and all sorts of lefty ideas.
If there is anyone with RINO flavor it would be Donald Trump with a big mouth.
Politically you are absolutely right....but I’ll say this about Sessions...he’s a man of integrity, a fighter, but he’s not very economically astute. Now, is he wrong here? Oh, I’m not saying that at all. I want to hear more from these two candidates.
Do I trust Obama? HELL NO.
But do I trust Warren and Sanders and the union thugs? HELL NO as well.
Cruz and Walker are both likely more economically astute than Sessions.
IF IT IS SO GREAT TELL US WHATS IN THIS DAMNED BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been on all of the conservative sites, today, to see what the general consensus on this is...and, your post is what I am seeing posted (in comments), overwhelmingly.
Wonder if Jeff Sessions would be interested in running for president?
I haven't seen an issue be so clouded over in a long time.
I'm going to kick back and let the dust settle for a while. Hopefully this thing sorts itself out in a good way. Kindly ping me if you see anything worthwhile that sheds light on this as we go forward.
Here is my take on the 2 issues I had trouble with Cruz on - H1B visas and this trade deal. They have something in common:
Cruz wants to get this country back on its feet economically. He talks over and over about creating jobs and bringing back industries, if you were to listen to HIM instead of the knee-jerk posters here.
Our students are not capable of becoming engineers and scientists. Statistics on graduation rates from universities prove this, as do the international math and science tests. IF we want to being back high tech industries NOW (within the 4-8 year time frame one president gets) we cannot wait for an overhaul of our education system. That will take 12 years - IF it is begun immediately, which isnt likely with liberals having a stranglehold on our schools.
Cruz is anything but stupid. Cruz has held to conservative principles and to what he thinks would best serve this country in the face of threats from the GOP establishment. He is now campaigning for president and is even more in the limelight. Why would he sabotage his campaign? If you actually listen to his words, he is not talking down to us, he is not covering anything up - he is upfront and explains his position. Hes not belittling anyone, like the democrats do when disagreed with nor is he backing down because a handful of knee-jerk freepers are posting the SAME words on every thread, multiple times.
Why would Cruz go out of his way to agree with Obama, knowing his base would be infuriated, if he didnt think it was in line with his vision for the country? Do you really think that a man capable of arguing and winning 13 (or was it 16) times in front of the Supreme Court would have a meltdown over a trade deal, and try to sabotage his campaign? I think hed rather lose doing what he thinks is right than win by pandering.
So he fully believes this is best for his vision of the country, one that brings jobs back and revives the economy. That is a central theme in all his interviews. The interviews Freepers arent bothering to read before posting inflammatory remarks.
Obviously standing by what he believes is right, explaining it in a rational way, and drawing people into his vision of an economically viable country is more important to Cruz that to say what you want to hear to pander for your vote.
It worked for Reagan. But the liberals have had 35 years since then to dumb-down the schools, so maybe it is too late for this country.
“However, one thing Ill say - whatever obama is fer - Im agin. (a little hillbilly humor here).”
I just moved to the Appalachian mountains, so I get it ;)
Weird thing is that Obama is for it, Democrats are against it, and Republicans are for it.
Do you want to side with Pelosi and Reed?

Listen to Cruz’s interviews- there are many links posted on the Cruz threads. I don’t know about Walker though, but there’s probably some as well
I hadn’t thought of Sessions ‘ take from an economic standpoint.
I had thought of Cruz’ though. See my post #74 if you like. It fits with what you said.
Perot heard the jobs sucking sound of bad trade deals. No one since has. We need another Perot who does not owe his arse to the company store.
Post 74 is very well said. It’s so shallow and infantile to think that protectionism works and that trade is bad. Hell, look at how expensive and awful our cars used to be. Look how to pander to a few hundred thousand auto workers, we totally screwed 300 million consumers.
That is what protectionism does, it panders to a few workers and screws the entire customer base, while preventing entry by other new innovators. World history proves it.
Cruz knows this. I don’t think Jeff Sessions, who I normally like, has any idea how macro economics work.
“Cruz knows this. I dont think Jeff Sessions, who I normally like, has any idea how macro economics work.”
I like Sessions too - have admired him for a long time now. He was the lone voice in the Senate protecting us from amnesty when W tried to force it on us, back when Tancredo and Hunter were also patriots in the House.
BUT, I see a recurring theme in Cruz’ interviews. I’m not an economist, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but I try to understand what he is saying - which is more than the knee-jerkers here do!
Unlike candidates in recent history, I think he has a vision for this country. He’s thinking beyond just getting elected and even beyond the next 4 years. He probably has a carefully thought out plan, and is articulating it piece by piece, drawing people from both sides into his vision of returning the US to an economic powerhouse.
Unfortunately, he may have overestimated people’s ability to focus, listen, and understand. Even conservatives.
It seems Walker might have a similar plan, and I’d like to hear more from him - although I am still cautious since he backed amnesty at one time and rewarding breaking our laws is not something I respect.
“That is what protectionism does, it panders to a few workers and screws the entire customer base, while preventing entry by other new innovators. World history proves it.”
Thank you for your kind words.
I don’t understand posters here taking the short-sighted view, like you elaborated on.
It’s like backing a union to protect a few jobs, knowing they are a parasite that will eventually bankrupt the company. In the long run, it benefits no one. In the short term, it only benefits a few.
