Embattled McKinney police officer resigns following pool party video

The Texas police officer at the center of a controversial video that showed him forcefully handcuffing and drawing his gun on a group of black teenagers at a pool party last weekend has resigned, the city’s police chief announced Tuesday.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Cpl. Eric Casebolt’s actions “indefensible” and noted that the officer, who was under investigation, “resigned on his own will.”

“As the video shows, he was out of control during the incident,” Conley said, “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

He said the internal investigation into Casebolt’s actions is now over.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

Who would want to be a LEO; a doctor or a member of the military in this PC world ?

The is the beginning of the ghetto equivalent of sharia law. They will refuse to comply with social norms and existing forms of law enforcement and demand "their own" selective policing policies.

Coupled with this is the concept that they have been targeted for prosecution because of race. It is basically becoming a get out of jail free card for anyone who has a friend with a vid device.

No. Because they handled themselves with professionalism and composure.’

The boss was calling the shots, as his experience evaluated an escalating situation the others may not have recognized.

Next time an officer is shot and killed for remaining ‘calm’ during something like that, I want YOU to personally hand deliver condolences to his wife and kids.

The cop had his gun out for 9 seconds. Big effing deal. The two black guys made him feel threatened.

Funny. The only thing I saw creating an “escalating situation” was Casebolt.

How were the other officers putting themselves at risk by keeping their composure?

PATHETIC...I felt that he was entirely justified because of the two thugs charging toward him...police are there to control the situation and the crowd....I’d have given him a citation for not shooting either of those spoiled, lawless, brats.

They have this video, and someone stopped the boys body in this frame, and claims it is a shooting position, that is silly.

They agree with me, I support the cops, except for the Barney Fife guy, of course.

I just read the HOA pool rules and the ones that instigated the “party” we’re clearly in violation of many of those— one of which limited any party to not more than 20—but then, I guess , rules don’t apply to the entitled class.

I hate cops,

your representatives hired them, they work for you, and they save your sorry butt from being overrun by the vermin who had taken control of that party.....next time someone threatens you or a family member.....call a crip, or a blood, or a gangster disciple....they'll help you for sure.....PATHETIC.

Silly indeed. Leaving aside the absurdity of freezing a single frame of a guy who first runs forward then immediately stops and backpedals, and calling that frame a "shooting stance," it occurs to me that even in the freeze-frame, the guy is in a terrible shooting stance. His feet are way too wide, he is off balance, and he is back on his heels.

I'm hearing (talk show hosts) that he arrived alone. Others quickly showed up and the timing of the video of him is in question.

The few seconds of video shows a man (with back to camera) approach the officer and make a move as though reaching for something in his waistband. When the officer drew his weapon apparently in response the man ran away.. at that time the officer put his gun back in the holster. That's what some are reporting.

I can watch the video and dispute that account.. maybe. But I have no reason to doubt the account even if there were two other officers in the scene. IOW the officer felt threatened.

Agreed. The vast majority of people at the party were trespassing, and the officers were 100% correct in taking action to disperse the crowd.

Again, 11 of the 12 officers at the scene did a great job responding to a difficult situation. The 12th officer did not.

Who threw him overboard? He resigned.

Because he was thrown overboard.....if you're a cop and your department isn't 100% behind you, you'd better find a different department to work for....you aren't safe there.

Watch the full video. You can see him running onto the scene, with at least one other officer. You then see the other officer talking to people at the scene, for several minutes.

Obviously, the entire situation was not revealed to you. The officers were in close proximity.

Keep the mindless, senseless criticism to yourself.

BTW, you seem a troll

He has barely had time to speak to his union, he didn’t have to resign, unless he felt that he just wasn’t cut out for this work.

Why did he leave the Texas Highway patrol after such a short time?

Resigning instantly like this, doesn’t look like the way to vindicate himself for remaining in police work.
