Barbecue has a special place in Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's heart.
He reminisced about their courtship today while devouring a spare rib at a 'Roast and Ride' event in Boone, Iowa...
Walker had just finished helping employees of Lynch BBQ, the event catering company, prepare a rack of ribs when he professed his love for barbecue - and his spouse.
'We met at a karaoke night, even though we didn't talk to each other,' he recalled. 'I gave her a napkin with my name on it, because the guy I was with said we just kept hitting it off.'
The two 'never talked' that night, he said.
But the brazen 24-year-old didn't let that stop him from giving Tonette, a widow who was 12 years older than him, his phone number.
Walker says he passed her a note on a napkin that said, 'Forgive me for being rude, but I gotta go home' because I gotta get ready 'for work in the morning. We'll have dinner some time.'
'She waited two days, and called me,' he said, which she said she 'never' would have done.
Walker says their first date was May 1. They went back to that same barbecue spot in August of that year, 1992, for Thursday night karaoke, and he proposed.......
