On April 29, two days after the biggest spasm of violence following the death of Freddie Gray, the City Council’s taxation, finance, and economic development committee took testimony about “Establishing a Baltimore City African American Business, Tourism, Entertainment & Heritage Preservation Commission.” At issue at the City Council hearing was the way Visit Baltimore, the main government-sponsored tourism booster, markets Baltimore to African-Americans. Echoing a case he has made for years, Lou Fields, President of Baltimore Black Heritage Tours Inc., said Visit Baltimore doesn’t understand the African-American market well enough to maximize its effort. In denying this, Tom Noonan, president and CEO of Visit Baltimore, may have bolstered Fields’ point. -

In my day they drove what they called a Deuce and a Quarter. Translation: A Buick Electra 225.

Exactly how big is the black tourism market?

Chicago is about to find out after the Baraq Obama Museum gets built. Next question will be how all of the community organizers and other race hustlers will get government money to fund all of the bus trips to ObamaLand (ObamaStan?)

“I’m here not to attack them,” Fields [President of Baltimore Black Heritage Tours Inc.] told the committee. “I’m here to ask them to help us help them.”

How is that helpful? I guess ultimately he just wants more money from the city?

Link here and it appears the threshold was a population of 500,000, not 250,000.

Black History Heritage site in Baltimore

Auntie Kalyndra lives in the House with the red door. She campaigned for the Mayor and is leading the effort for money to revitalize the neighborhood

I see the ‘hood is already decorated with symbols that look like a racist Confederate flag. I din’t know they had redneck crackers in the ‘hood.

They could hire actors like they do for the old west train rides, outlaws on horses who chase down the train and rob it.

I like it... finally - - a tourist trap in a black community...
