IRS sends Congress unsigned form letter to brush off demands for Clinton Foundation investigation
The IRS responded to a Republican request for an investigation into the Clinton Foundation's tax-exempt status with a one-page form letter that starts with "Dear Sir or Madam."
In May, more than 50 House Republicans asked the IRS to review the Clinton Foundation's tax-exempt status, after it became clear that the foundation had failed to report millions of dollars in grants from foreign governments.
That letter, led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, said a review was "appropriate" given that this money was accepted and not reported while Hillary Clinton was serving as secretary of state.
In response, the IRS sent Blackburn a form letter, which Blackburn received late Wednesday. The letter thanked her for submitting the request, and said the IRS has an "ongoing examination program" to ensure tax-exempt groups comply with tax law.
"The information you submitted will be considered in this program," it said. The letter was from Margaret Von Lienen, director of exempt organizations examinations, but she didn't sign it.
Blackburn said the perfunctory response is far below the level of customer service members of Congress should be getting.
"The IRS response is not acceptable and lacking ...

We’re not doomed but that really isn’t the point. The point is about establishing that your purism starts from the belief that we’re doomed — i.e. that conservatism can’t prevail or make progress in the country’s political system, that failure and collapse are inevitable, that we’re fools to even try to advance our cause, that our real job at this point is only to preserve a pure remnant as the conservative minority dwindles. I just want people to realize that the unspoken but essential premise of the purists is that we can’t win.
Your “purist” ranting avoids any actual proof about my statements doesn’t it? That horse died in the barn. No one with a brain blames people for standing for conservative principles.
Try again. Where was I factually incorrect?
So you’re agreeing that you believe that we’re doomed and that conservatism can’t win politically.
We are doomed because conservatism can win. But most people claiming to be conservative keep voting for something other than conservatism.
Thats history. It’s not debatable. Conservatism has worked every time its tried. But instead, so called conservatives choose freely to ‘win’ with the Romneys, lose, drive the GOP left and then cry the blues about it, blaming everyone and everything but themselves and their vote for someone left of Reagan’s 80% figure.
It happens every election. It’s a fact. And it’s why America is doomed. Gutless ‘conservatives’ doom it a little more every election. Today, the GOP is a hard left group that openly campaigned on working with, not opposing Obama. And people went out and elected the two biggest opponents of conservatives to lead the house and senate.
Now they cry and cry about the consequence of their own voting.
Too damn bad.
“Look up the strange deaths surrounding Mans Country and Rev Wrights church about the time Barry ran for office.”
I am aware of that but that has not been proven. It may be true or not. I lean toward true.
I do as well. As for the proven part, it won’t be even addressed until Barry dies of old age “For the god of the Country’. Much less investigated. And after all that time, all the proof, if any, will be long gone if it’s not already.
Thus, no problem!
Ya, I’m with you on this one. It’s nothing more than the contempt that congress deserves.
Now we know why they have assault rifles and hollow point rounds... Same btw with NOAA data falsification. These agencies are up to something a lot more heinous than their mission statement is talking about.
It's like that German soldier in Saving Private Ryan, passing that coward on the stairs. He barely gives him a glance.
Disregard anything Yardstick says. That’s what he lives for.
Except for number 10 Obama has done the same.
Andrew Breitbart and Michael Hastings could not be reached for comment...
Worse yet, it appears Margaret had the balls to not sign it.
Norm, I have came to the conclusion that, today most who refer to themselves as “Americans” would rather be ruled that led. They have gladly traded their God given rights and responsibilities for a bowl of Government curds and whey. They do not mind in the least wearing the shackles of slavery as long as they continue to get their Government freebies. And those in power do not mind keeping the freebies coming as long they can do it with other people’s money. They also have no qualms about applying the chains and shackles of Governmental slavery. Your view may be different, but that is how I see it.
Seems to me you’re dodging just a bit.
Do you really expect us to believe that you consider conservatives who vote pragmatically to be the cause of the country’s drift from its founding principles? That people who vote according to the reasoning of Bill Buckley and Sarah Palin are why we’re doomed? I don’t think you’re that dumb.
Just like everyone else you know the real reasons, which things like the erosion of religious faith, the failure to properly educate the younger generations in the the founding ideas, the loss of control over the culture to left, and of course the left itself and its hundred year march through our institutions and our society.
What sets you apart is that you look at all this and you conclude that we’re doomed. You see how easy it was for the left to seduce people and you think there’s no way we can recover. Too much lost ground, too deep into the abyss, the country is doomed.
So having given up on the country, you at least want the dwindling conservative remnant to remain politically pure as America slides off into its inevitable collapse. Frustrating this is the majority of conservatives who are willing to sacrifice purity in order to stave off disaster and keep the country in the game that you consider lost. That’s why your focus is on them, and not on the actual forces that oppose us.
Well, Congress has been flipping the middle finger to us for decades. They know the IRS is a criminal organization but does nothing about it.
We should be burning down their offices by now.
The bureaucrats are taking their cue from the arrogant dictator at the time -
“Congress, you are superfluous now, we have all the authority under law to run the government, and everyone’s healthcare to boot, without you from now on, because you abdicated that authority to us in the laws that established our agencies and gave them their missions, and whether you ever meet in session again or not our authority will continue anyway, so YOU can just stuff it.”
That response is more than a form letter, it’s a form alright, but a form of flipping the wee birdie to Congress. I’d be a tad uptight, and perhaps in a retaliatory mood personally. Congress needs to act accordingly.
If we had representation with some hair the IRS would be quaking in their knee highs.
” I feel bad for those of us that stood on principle and voted for conservatism and for the America the founders intended. “
Amen, brother !
And Amen!
