The weekly top 40 is out.
The big movers this week are the Gateway Pundit, down 7 spots to #39; CNS News, down 6 spots to #35; and Mad World News, up 6 spots to #33.

I recall when FR was in the top 20.
Perhaps the religious battles and bullying around here are driving people away.
Its a shame because this used to be, and could be, a good site to gather a full range of information.
FoxNews is still conservative? Who knew?
Interesting. FR is #1 in my book! I’ve visited some of the others, but really, it’s usually only because I first read an article here. Silly pollsters. They must not know what a REAL CONSERVATIVE (tm) is.
The target list for Lynch and Obama’s new study on ‘right wing’ groups and their link to violence (or something similar).
I predict Newsmax to fall a few points.
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/newsmax-pledged-1-million-clinton-foundation_858504.html
Newsmax, a conservative news organization, last year pledged $1 million to the Clinton Foundation over a five-year period, according to a spokesman for Chris Ruddy, the organizations CEO. Mr. Ruddy has been friends with the Clintons since 2007,” reports the Journal.
Still, the fact that it out-traffics Rush Limbaugh is pretty impressive.
Hey. How come we dropped down? That ain’t right there. Weird when you look at the contribution totals from each state in the constant drive to keep Jim afloat that there aren’t (in the overall scheme of things) that many folks ponying up. Lurkers, come out of the closet and fess up with some funds. If it’s only $10, do it. If you go to any of the other “top” sites, they are stuffed with advertisers. Don’t see no bill and melinda “grates” foundation money propping up free(monitored no doubt) speech here. Just sayin’.
We’re the people who give clicks to the other sites...
Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy’s donation to the Clinton Crime Family seems to have paid off.
FReeRepublic is still and will always be #1. Like every where else one needs to exercise discernment.
Fox what? Rarely go there on the net or tv. Hear it on the radio on some of the conservative shows at the top and bottom of the hour.
RE: Hey. How come we dropped down?
FR LINKS to other sites and most articles posted here are only limited tot he first 300 words.
Those other sites OWE FR a note of thanks for directing traffic to theirs.
From the NYT on The Independent Journal Review, number 2 on the list:
IJReview, a two-year-old site started by a pair of Republican operatives, has emerged as one of the most popular online destinations for conservatives. The site mixes entertaining, shareable topics like pets through a conservative-values lens (for example, a recent piece about a dog helping to heal a sick veteran) with articles about politics and policy.
Its like if you crossed RedState with BuzzFeed, said Alex Castellanos, a Republican political consultant and an adviser to IJReview.
IJReview has roughly 24 million unique visitors a month, according to the most recent Quantcast rankings. Its traffic exceeds that of more seasoned right-wing sites like the Drudge Report, Newsmax and Breitbart News, and is not far behind other conservative brands like Fox News and TheBlaze.
The sites founders, Alex Skatell and Phil Musser, say that its popularity comes from having mastered social sharing on websites like Facebook and Google. They boast of the ability to generate maximum traffic from a minimum number of articles. In August, for instance, IJReview received 14 million shares on Facebook from just 646 articles, according to NewsWhip, a site that tracks social sharing. By contrast, Huffington Post, the leader in Facebook shares, had four times as many shares at nearly 55 million, but with 38 times as many articles.
RE: FR is not a news gatherer. It is a news aggregator at best, and more accurately, a news discussion forum.
Yes, FR LINKS to other sites and most articles posted here are only limited tot he first 300 words.

Leni
LOL! I say “bill” ‘em. “Dear other sites. The invoice is in the mail. You’re welcome for the traffic.”
You are an idiot if you think that bullying is a problem on FR! :)
“Perhaps the religious battles and bullying around here are driving people away.”
I’ve had my share of religious battles without ever, except in the case of Islam, saying anything negative towards the
religion itself. The absolute worst and most vile, disrespectful and outright rude attacks came from Jews. The
Catholics do try to prove me wrong and sometimes, I have to
admit they do. The Jews? Well here’s an example:
By Yehuda
“Stop frothing at the mouth, its unpleasant to watch, especially as you have little knowledge of 19th and 20th Jewish immigration here, or their influence on the American Left.”
“Right about being uninformed and a liar.”
“As for you, ahole, we dont have to prove negatives, youre the stupid sc@mbag who claimed and blamed it ALL ON JEWS, so you produce the sources.”

I understand that. In most cases the bullies are ignored unless I am in an especially mischievous mood. Then I like to antagonize them.
My point is that many posters of great articles have left because they are bullied for having an opinion.
Replies on this site used to be clever, funny, and articulate. They can no longer be described that way.
I would bet that the average age of the poster of articles and responses here has risen to the early 70’s. There are more people on here that remind me of the drunk guys at the end of the bar at the local VFW than they do the folks standing around the water cooler. They are opinionated, close minded, and argumentative. Their view of the world was frozen when they got back from Southeast Asia, and it hasn’t changed.
Free Republic, as a place to get the latest news and information that supports the conservative view point will not make it until the end of the next political cycle.
I stopped donating in protest of the bullying. Until the moderators start moderating, I will continue to point out the bullying and keep my wallet closed. I am sure there are hundreds like me.
