Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar Open Up to Megyn Kelly About Their Son Josh Molesting His Sisters
mediaite ^ | June 3, 2015 | Megyn Kelly

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly finally aired her big, much-anticipated interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in which they opened up about their son Josh Duggar‘s public confession that he molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.

The first time it happened, they explained, was when their son came to them, crying and saying he had touched his young sisters when they were asleep. Michelle Duggar said, “We had one ray of hope in that Josh had a tender conscience.”

There were more instances afterwards, Jim Bob Duggar said, in which their son had inappropriately touched his sisters over their clothes and “a couple of instances where he touched them under their clothes, but it was like a few seconds.” And, as he noted, his son’s victims didn’t seem to understand what had happened to them until it was subsequently explained to them.

They got very emotional as they spoke to Duggar about how they felt they failed as parents and how they came to the decision to send their son Josh to get therapy. Later on, Kelly brought up 19 Kids and Counting––which has been pulled but not cancelled by TLC––and asked, “What would make you launch a reality TV show about your family, given this past?” Jim Bob Duggar said they weren’t worried because the records were sealed and they had dealt with all this years ago.

‘I’m sure the cop was a friend.’

Maybe not a friend, exactly.
Jim Bob said he once had a towing business and knew the law enforcement officers because of that business.
I believe he spoke to whoever was there at the time.

The family isn’t desperate for anything.

Here are the cold hard facts:

The family is about to receive a multi-million dollar settlement from In-Touch magazine and their parent company Bauer Media Group. MULTI-MILLION and every one involved in this KNOWS IT!

The parents, the girls who are the victims and even Josh will be getting massive checks for many, many financial quarters and it is going to be big enough to show up on the balance sheets.

There is no chance in Hell that Bauer Media fights this case in court. Any first year law student could retire on the proceeds from this case.

Heck, they may be on the hook to TLC.

It seems likely to me that once the ruffled feathers become unruffled again, they will be back in the scene in some other fashion.

Genuine faith has that side effect. The believer can (and very possibly will) stumble, scrape his nose, take a prat fall, twist an ankle. The world will go into “orgies” of “Nana-nana, nana-nana. Guess God hates YOU!”

And then God will re-craft his scene even better than before.

Aside from everything else, the State releasing the records IS a big deal - the state broke the law.

No one would have gone to jail in any jurisdiction in this country over what is being alleged here.

There isn't a prosecutor in this country that would have entertained taking this case.Based on the KNOWN facts the MOST that any of them would have done is turn the entire case over to DCFS for follow up. DCFS MAY and I emphasize MAY have done a site visit. In most instances a report would be filed a pone call to the family would have been made to make an appointment at the office with the offender and at the meeting counseling for all involved would have been suggested, maybe ordered.

In MOST jurisdictions in this country this type of offense is not legally required to be reported by the parents. Most jurisdictions consider this type of thing the purview of the parents.

I found it accidently when looking up something very much unrelated. It was in a few online obscure places.

Did you all hear/see that Megyn Kelly has interviewed 2 of the Duggar girls, and will be airing that show, also. Maybe tomorrow?

She has it scheduled to air on her Friday show.

Clever - but who is this family-?

I, for one, applaud large (Christian) American families.
In light of that ideological cult that begins with an ‘I,’ and parades as a religion - and demands large families, we need all the Christian and Jewish families we can get. Large, medium, and small.

Also, I find it interesting how you profess to be a Christian but have a snide attitude displayed in your post to me.

The individuals are already polishing up their resumes, as they are going to be fired.

The county court system is checking the couch cushions for loose change to pay the soon to be paid settlement and In Touch magazine’s parent company Bauer Media is burning up the phone lines between Berlin and New York to find out just how much they will have to tell their stock holders about the soon to be settled multi-million dollar law suite.

I’ve been in the religious subculture enough to have seen it all and to have seen people from one group trash other groups as compromisers or cultists.

People who said the LDS Church (Mormons) were cultists, the Roman Catholic Church was a cult and so on.

The angry people quite often were hurt in some way by their involvement in the “cult”. I don’t agree with Bill Gothard and have heard some disturbing things about him, but why all this anger.

We are human, we make mistakes. I can’t live in bitterness or resentment over those who really have caused me harm who have conservative religious backgrounds.

I have to move on and not live in resentment and anger. I can only wish the Duggars the best and not take potshots at their religious belief system.

I refuse to do anything to protect child molesters who repeat over and over and whose parents do nothing to put a stop to it the first time.

I won’t try to justify it, pretend it wasn’t horrific, or to pretend that the media shouldn’t cover it. The Duggars make their money off their children in the media.

I don’t know what you expect when stuff like this happens, but saying “yeah well look at Mia Farrow’s brother” as if that is some kind of excuse is wrong.

They believe gay marriage is wrong....the gay mafia has been out to get them for a long time for having that belief and saying so. The lesbian sheriff illegally released sealed juvenile records to the media. She is retiring in less than a month....it’s called revenge.

Josh was 14/15

He was a kid

He would not have likely gone to prison though court ordered rehab maybe

In patient maybe

It’s just how it is

I’m unaware of anyone his age ever being incarcerated beyond reform school or funny farm for molestation

Someone here can refute me if they would like

I’ve dug really deep for an exception

“With all the clinton’s wrong doings, the Middle East on fire, China working on starting WW3 by claiming territory that isn’t theirs, along with all the other things going on in the world, and Fox news does an hour special on them?”

Are you saying Fox News can’t chew gum and rub their collective tummies at the same time? Are you saying Fox doesn’t devote the majority of their program time talking about world issues and domestic politics that in a 24/7 environment, they can’t devote one lousy hour to this topic? Geez. Do you have some kind of insatiable appetite for news regarding beheadings by Muzzies, and our economy tanking?

I for one watched this program with interest, and I must have seen a different program from so many of the attack jackals infesting this thread, as I thought the parents of the kid made rational decisions as best they could considering the youth of all their family members and the youth of the perp who was 13 going on 14 when the incidents began, 12 years ago, mind you. Parents lean toward protecting their flock, all of them.

I guess you don’t believe in any form of redemption or just plain old growing up to regret one’s youthful mistakes. What a bunch of hard*sses here. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone. Geez. The oldest boy, now a young married man with a wife who loves him, has turned his life around, regretted his actions, and which were not criminal rape mind you but inappropriate touching; he must be horrified that his juvenile records were illegally leaked out by a police chief who knew better and had her own agenda, mark my words. Josh’s sisters long ago forgave him, they are now out there defending him, and they too are horrified that records they thought would never see the light of day, have.

I just love the reaction and sanctimonious attitudes here, like a pack of wolves pouncing on old, no longer red meat. Many of the people attacking the Duggars on this thread and elsewhere creep me out as much as this family does. Now why do you think the Duggars might have gone along with the reality show, never thinking that juvenile records would ever be leaked, and after so much time had passed? How about the expense of raising 19 children? If you had 19 children and a TV channel offered you good bucks to do a reality show, would you turn it down? They never thought at the time they decided to do the reaity show that incidents by ONE of their NINETEEN children would come back to bite them big time, as juvenile records would never be leaked, they knew.

Or they thought they knew, until the real heel in this equation, the female police chief, did the illegal and unconscionable leak and tried to bring down and destroy the entire Duggar family. Too Christian for some? Oh, but there was that one 13 year old boy, the rotten apple in the barrel, and therefore all the destruction of this family is now justified because of that one 13 year old’s mistake. Bah humbug.

I might add, I have never watched the show, but have seen the family a few times on the news and talk shows. They indeed are what nowadays would be considered an overly large family, but you know what? 18 out of 19 of those kids have grown up or are growing up to be fine young children and adults. Think of that. 18 children doing fine, one screwed up, and therefore you all assume the entire pool is polluted. Or you want to think that. Would that more families would have such excellent results in bringing their children up.

And you know what? TLC channel won’t drop the Duggar program. They will be back in the fall, with more eyeballs watching than ever before. It’s like Duck Dynasty, another attempt to bring down the Christians; the Duggars are their highest rated show on TLC. Their moneymaker. Their golden goose. You think they are going to make the same mistake as was made initially with Duck Dynasty and cancel the show? No way. Ten years ago on this very same website, I maintain, the patrons herein would have come to the defense of the Duggar family, knowing what the real political agenda to do away with them was. Today, not so much....
