That goes right to the heart of a Volvo owner.

Volvos, for better or worse, have lost their distinction. They’re much harder to pick out of a lineup and don’t have any noticeable edge in safety or technology. They are still favorites of soccer moms in northern climates. Even Subarus have lost their previous personality.

Not interested in buying a car made by Communist China and profiting the People’s Liberation Army (which is a key investor in Geely which owns Volvo). But thank you for the information.

I am going a different direction. I have an eye toward restoring a 1978 Ferrari 308GTS. Different strokes for different folks.

I got one on reserve. I think the back end is clunky looking but I can do something about that with a little paint and a little judicious trimming. I wish the company were more forthcoming about things like the type of transmission it has and other details of the power train. It just says manual or automatic. I think a vehicle of this size and weight should have a belt drive like the maxi scooters of which I have owned two. As an old MC man I was dubious when these things first made it into mid size bikes but then drove one. I like it and the belts hold up very well, enough to be cheaper to use than a chain and more efficient than a geared transmission.
My manual says to change the belt after 10k miles. I have over 30k on the current scoot and the belt does not show the signs of wear that one should look for as a sign that it should be changed.

If I had one I’d rig up a hose so I could grab the tank off my BBQ and throw it in the trunk to get to work on. Maybe something where you could screw in a torch size tank in the dash just to get a mile down the road also...

My dear departed wife used to race her MGA twin cam in these races on frozen PA lakes back in the late 1950s. There was a lake with an island on it they called “Saab Island” because so many Saabs spun out and landed on the Island ...

1958 MGA Twin Cam

Sounds like they required your attention.

When I met my then future brother-in-law in 1960, he took me for a ride in his MG. He was immediately all right with me. Still is.

Westport Innovations Inc. (TSX:WPT / NASDAQ:WPRT),

...

The stock market doesn’t seem to think much of the company.

Yup, she said she had to carry a case of oil in the trunk of her twin cam A just to make a round trip to the Jersey shore and back to Lebanon. She rued the day she traded her standard A for the twin cam. As I recall, a twin cam MGA sold on Barrett-Jackson for over $100K recently.
