One of the primary contentions, yesterday evening, of Establishment Republicans and Democrats in defense of the NSA's massive data collection program, was that the program was not only free from abuse (something we know is not true), but that it's ultimately useful in targeting real threats to the American people; maybe not yesterday, maybe not today, but perhaps some day in the future it will ensnare an entire sleeper sell of Jihadists mid-phone call to Iran, giving an unsecured credit card number to their yellowcake suppliers. The data collection, you see, is done only on those whose backgrounds demand it. If you've done nothing wrong? Then why worry that your cell phone data records are stored on a massive supercomputer in Utah, where they can be routinely downloaded and searched?
One thing they forgot to mention? The Obama Administration, which has greatly expanded warrantless wiretapping, has a very interesting definition of who consitutes a threat. They haven't been entirely forthcoming (or maybe they have, really) in who they focus on when it comes to things like "lone-wolf terrorist" or "threats to the very nature of our social fabric." And that's because, when they use the terms, they don't really mean the homegrown groups of Jihadists that Lindsey Graham or Dan Coats envisions, plotting to put a dirty bomb in a shopping mall or release anthrax into Congress's air ducts.

I look.at it as being the canary in the coal mine...if you done nothing but talk poltics and they start messing with you....then they proved all the suspicion
Cicero in his letters to intimates informs us that one of the most caustic influences on public affairs in the last years of the free Republic was the long ears, i.e. the political intelligence-gathering organization, of Julius Caesar and his party, which was a revolutionary faction similar to Obama's today, which coexisted and cooperated with a similarly effective and repressive organization of not just street toughs, but street killers, many of them ex-gladiators and veteran soldiers, who possessed names and addresses.
Obama's gathering together powers and political tools similar to those Caesar used to end the Republic says more about him than five or six long articles in opinion journals ever could.
Finally, we’ve made the big time. WOO HOO!
Yahoo email is definitely acting strange today.
After I log in, it does not show my account!
Instead it goes back to Yahoo main screen.
Then I click on Yahoo-Mail again and then my account show up.
Either Yahoo is screwed up or NSA is still doing mischief.
The really amusing thing about that Cass Sunstein comment is that many FR threads are started with, or include, links to sites with “opposing viewpoints”
Actually, I’d guess most threads here do have such links.
So it’s not like Sunstein’s hypothetical typical (and nonexistant) Freeper (who ONLY gets his news from FR. And perhaps FOXNews) isn’t exposed to them.
In other words,
The feds are closely watching what we post here on Free Republic.
Weaponized Govvernment
Those guys should watch out for all that brass on the floor at the top of the stairway, one slip and there could be a terrible domino effect.
As if government isn't "weaponized" from jump. Government isn't eloquence, but raw, naked force, as noted by none other than George Washington...

I think I saw it in my dream last night right before I woke up. The cattle cars, the camps, the coffins. They want us all inside the wire, Agenda 21, sustainable development. They want everyone inside the zone with no guns where they can be controlled. They will setup checkpoints and popation zones and they will go house to house in the country and force everybody inside the zone. The cars are for transport, and the camps are for housing the relocatees until they find housing and the coffins are for those who fight. A few casualties only helps their cause along the way. They will know you by your internet profile. In fact, they already know you.
Frankly, I do not believe them on this. The ‘metadata’ is already stored by the vendors and if they need it they can get that from them with a FISA warrant.
They can even coerce some to the vendors to give them the feed directly - they have in the past. I also believe that even though they are looking for connections between foreign terrorists and Americans they even have the right to capture and examine everyone’s private communications. It’s fishing.
It just doesn’t wash. It didn’t wash with Clapper’s ‘inadvertent’ lie to Congress that he had to walk back, the need for a UTAH memory superhouse for call overhead data doesn’t wash, and the reauthorization of the Patriot Act under a new name (USA Freedom Act) that promulgates that national surveillance down to state and local LE levels doesn’t wash.
They’ve lost my trust and my believability regarding what they say now.
Geez, looks like those two girls are just like their mother.
Ah, Obama the troll. Retard in the classroom cannot argue the subject so he trolls and attacks the teachers and students in the classroom, thrusting his crackhead attitude and transvestite griefs on us.
These are the faces of submission, submitted to their own sht.
Laugh if you must - -
I have a length of foil over the top of my laptop. That’s right - to cover the camera.
Presume you all have heard of ‘spying’ this way.
True or not - playing it safe. I want to blow my nose in

Hope you’re not going to tell me this precaution won’t work. . .
