Concerned About Mass Die-Offs, Morgan Freeman Converted His 124-Acre Ranch Into a Bee Sanctuary
Healthy Debates ^ | 5/28/15 | Nick Meyer

One of the most unique things about grassroots movements that a lot of people don’t realize is that they have the potential to pick up some pretty incredible, and oftentimes unexpected, allies as they grow in size and scope. Along the way, these new allies lend their own talents, perspectives, advice and more the movement. And sometimes, these allies end up being pretty influential simply by being themselves, as many people have especially noted with celebrities. Most celebrities, love ’em or hate ’em (and love or hate the system for that matter), are one-man or one-woman media outlets with the ability to sway countless thousands of people with one or two sentences in the midst of any interview.

Well, at least he is putting his money where is mouth is....

I agree. At least he's not demanding somebody else do something while he walls himself into his own little private world.

“Well, at least he is putting his money where is mouth is....”

+1 on this. And, the bee problem is not an imaginary problem dreamed up by leftists for the purposes of domination.

It’s a good idea. All the cities need to change the laws and allow people to have a bee hive in their back yards.

The loss of bees is being caused by development and the bees not being able to find food.

Just one more example of how The Rich(TM) help society without government confiscation & redistribution of their wealth, and in ways no bureaucrat would dream of doing.

I didn’t read the entire article but to turn it into a real bee sanctuary he needs to plant lots of flowering plants and make sure there is no chemicals around that will kill the bees.

I have had two large migratory swarms already this year and have a second infestation of aggressive bess under my shed to eliminate. So far I have seen little evidence of declining bees in SoCal.

It’s not likely you altruism; I read there is a huge tax break if you turn property into a “bee farm”.

Morgan Freeman is an ignorant fool. Someone needs to tell him that the Prairie Dogs are dying off in Colorado due to Plague fleas (not really, some do die that way but you can’t get rid of the damned things no matter what you do - the Dogs, not the Plague fleas), so he can establish some sanctuary Prairie Dogs colonies on his ranch (which of course would soon breed out of control and completely destroy his ranch, being the Plague-ridden vermin that they are.)

Where did I hear about Monsanto (spraying pesticides) and the bees dying off. It is really at a critical point to save the bees to pollenate. Maybe my conspiracies’ are mixed up. Will look into it tomorrow. Night All!

Nice. If you’re worried about bees, raise bees.

Regular bees or (this being Texas) long-horned bees?

(I was going to make a joke about longhorn bees and look for someone who did a jackalope style picture of them only to find they really exist)

I’ve seen about 1/2 dozen honey bees this season and all of them were on the ground crawling around in aimless circles.

Fallon’s attitude during this interview was smarmy, smug and self-righteous. Fake and forced laughter did not come off well at all. Obviously, he doesn’t know diddly about bees or bee-keeping. Freeman’s appearance could have enlightened countless numbers of people had the interview been even half way straight.

“I read that bees are not native to North America.”

Mason (aka Orchard) bees are native...solitary, pollinators, no honey.
