Baltimore City has now recorded 43 murders in May, making this the second deadliest month on record.
Late this morning, homicide detectives were investigating in the 1900-block of North Collington Avenue in East Baltimore, where a man was shot. Medics at the scene pronounced the victim dead.
This is one of three murders that took place Sunday in the city.
Police say two men were found shot in the head at around 1:15 Sunday morning in the 2000-block of Belair Road.
The victims have not been identified.
Police began tallying these records in 1970, and May is apparently the second deadliest month in that 45 year period.
The deadliest month in that period was in December, 1971, when 44 people were killed in the city.
There have been more than 100 non-fatal shootings this month.
Some clergy in Baltimore have asked Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to declare a state of emergency to address the problem.
One pastor tells Maryland's News This Week, that such a declaration may be too late to address the problem.
More proof that the racist system is killing innocent blacks in numbers that make the holocaust look like a picnic! The only solution is to declare a state of emergency, which will free up billions of dollars to flow into the coffers of the liberal run local government where it will be promptly blown on useless projects and various corrupt scams.

If we still had 1971 emergency medicine, the numbers would far eclipse that Dec 1971 number. A lot of people survive what would have been fatal shootings 40 years ago.
Either the National Guard will take up patrol duties in Baltimore or I suspect June will be worse and July even worse than June

Agree, and it will break the record for May of 44, set in 1971. Plus there will more murders after midnight to get a jump on June. The weather already is hot in the mid-Atlantic states; that will bring feral street animals out of their stuffy hidey-holes in even greater numbers.

I’d bet the Balimore PBS station can help - they’re really experienced at this sort of thing. Thug-a-thon doesn’t have a very good ring to it, however, so they may need some PR help.
