From their Instagram feeds they appear to be just like other young people enjoying the summer time: backflipping into water, chilling at a pool bar, basking in a sundrenched meadow. But the photos belong to a group of Syrians who have maintained their privileged lives, despite the war ravaging their country.
They’re Alawites, the country’s minority sect and its elite. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and many in his ruling government belong to the group, which comes from a strand of Shiite Islam. They dwell in Tartous and Latakia, perched on the Meditteranean on the Syrian coast, where there are few scenes of war or famine or retribution from the Assad regime to haunt them. Still, some insist the war is never far away.

I don’t believe for a moment we are building a moderate muslim force to take out Assad and ISIS. what will happen when ISIS takes over Syria? Iraq?
I’ve read our pilots are furious at the rules of engagement while the idiot plays golf and ISIS gets more of our equipment.
It won’t be long before we’re calling them refugees and bringing them here to the US.

The people that Obama (who is not a muslim) is turning over American military equipment and munitions to are actual savages, beheading and executing moderate Syrians, destroying civilization.
But this article would have us believe that said Syrians are on holiday, laughing all day long while sipping Dom Perignon.
This could be the White House’s Josh Earnest delivering its daily dog-and-pony show.
I still can’t understand what the US government is trying to achieve in Syria. If i have it right - we are trying to replace the only government they have know, the secular, minority Alawite Assad, to be replaced with Sunni/ISIS chaos.
Because of such stupidity by the likes of Obama and McCain, the only conclusion one can come to is Syria is indeed being punished because of oil politics - we can not have a Syrian/Russian veto on Arab/Saudi oil and gas pipelines to the Mediterranean.
It is interesting how the leftists hate Arabs/Muslims who have a tolerant, more of a secular viewpoint. These same leftists do everything they can to make excuses for violent Islamists.
