TEXAS REPUBLICAN SENATORS DEFY CONSTITUENTS’ LOUD CRIES FOR ACTION TO STOP THE OUT-OF-CONTROL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT Senators in State Affairs Skirt Vote to Avoid Accountability on HJR 77 With A Few Hours Left To Vote, Republican Senators Give ‘Thumbs Down’ to Supporting Constitutional Efforts to Bring Power Back to the States AUSTIN, Texas, May 26— In a massive grassroots initiative during the 84th legislative session in Texas, constituents propelled an Article V resolution, HJR 77, to victory in the House 80-62 on May 14. It was then sent directly to the Senate State Affairs Committee. This week, cowardice and defiance were on full display by Republican Senators Craig Estes (SD-30), Troy Fraser (SD-24) and Jane Nelson (SD-12), who either skipped the Memorial Day hearing for HJR 77 altogether or ran and hid from constituents who were trying to educate them on the bill and answer questions. The committee Chair on multiple occasions in the last 48 hours attempted to convene the committee during Senate recesses, but Senators Estes, Fraser and Nelson were witnessed by constituents quickly exiting the Senate Floor, thus preventing a quorum and vote on HJR 77. “What I have witnessed in Texas over the past few days has been both inspiring and disgusting,” says Mark Meckler, Convention of States Co-founder and President of Citizens for Self-Governance. “In multiple districts, Senators were overwhelmed by the calls and emails in support of the Convention of States resolution, HJR 77. We tracked every petition and our volunteers visited every office dozens of time, truly a grassroots fire in Texas.”

“You people are asking politicians to vote against their long term financial future.”

So, what are you talking about specifically ? Got any Idea?

According to Article V, Congress must call for an amendment-proposing convention, “on the application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States,” meaning 34 state legislatures would have to submit applications.

All,

In this thread it was advocated -not-to do an article V convention:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3289920/posts? page=36#36

” The Article Ver’s aren’t telling the complete story.
.....
Article V will be a disaster.”

And in this post, it is advocated in -favor- of a convention!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3294785/posts? page=10#10

“... It is time for a convention for America to re-establish our God-given rights against tyranny, corruption, and lawlessness. ...”

Which is it?

Convention or no convention?

Or, as in this post, total replacement?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3293875/posts?page=3#3

“A national convention to formulate a new charter for the governing of our country must be held.
...
Now,the US Constitution must be replaced. “

??????

The majority has spoken. Regardless of the fact Obama is not an natural born citizen, America has chosen to install an ineligible President into the Office of the President of the United States.

An ineligible President voids the Constitution. The Congress, the Federal Courts and federal officers of the Executive Branch have lost their authority to serve the union. The U.S. Constitution must be replaced with a national charter just as the Articles of Confederation was replaced by the U.S. Constitution.

Send an email to svenmagnussen@conventionforamerica.com or respond to this message to get on the ping list to develop a new national governing document. And start writing your proposed national charter. The US Constitution was developed through compromise from competing documents from a variety of interested.

How good are you at prediction the future, be it the COS or anything else political ?

The COS would require “unity” at the state level to pass any of the ridiculous accusations and predictions you “predict”.

Its an attempt to remove DC control of the rest of America by elected officials who promise one thing to get elected for 6 years, and do the opposite after the voters / Grubers have cast their votes.

“The majority has spoken”

Gee, the Majority speaks while the promises are in office, we don’t STOP speaking when we find out we were lied to, more than once.

Funny how that works out when the “boss” is elected and fails, the troops speak up.

Get used to it, its the American way.

I’m not the one predicting the future or anything else for that matter.

I’m just asking questions

wanted a convention or not to deal with the current national document or whether they wanted the whole thing replaced.

TX has no term limits at the state level, and the Republican primary voters are too uninformed in most cases to do little more than rubber stamp the incumbent whose name they can recognize.
