At least six flights were impacted by threats at airports in New York, New Jersey and Boston today, according to airlines and law enforcement.

JFK Airport:

An Air France plane was escorted to JFK Airport in New York City this morning after an anonymous threat was made against the flight, law enforcement officials told ABC News. The FBI said the plane has since been checked and cleared with "no incidents or hazards reported on board the flight by either the passengers or its crew."

What I don't get is them calling the Garrett County State Police Barracks in McHenry. There's nothing up there but a big lake and a ski resort. I know the place. An old buddy of mine is the barracks commander the next county over. If they'd have wanted to cause chaos or get publicity, there are much more effective ways of doing it besides calling in to the local pig pen in some podunk town in the hills.

My point is that disruption of our systems and lives can be accomplished without actual physical attack - mere threats can be nearly as effective, and require minimal resources on the part of attackers.
Are we dealing with these attacks properly? I don’t know. Probably it is not wise to ignore threats, but as you mention, where the heck are all of the agencies that we pay to counter these attacks and eliminate the attackers?
