[The following is an excerpt.]
Could it be blowing from farm to farm in the dirt? Could determined starlings and pigeons be carrying it into poultry houses on their feet? Is it spreading in feed, or being carried on truck tires?
Federal agriculture officials are looking everywhere they can think of for H5N2 bird flu, which has spread to poultry flocks in 14 states and killed or forced the slaughter of more than 39 million birds.
Highly pathogenic avian influenza has never spread like this before in the United States, and it's flummoxed the U.S. Department of Agriculture, farmers and scientists alike.

Decades ago, I fried up tofu, made a sauce, and served it to friends.
We ended up going out.
That was the end of tofu in anything but hot & sour soup.
It is one of those things that doesn’t taste ‘just like chicken’...
I just saw a note on Steve Quayle's alerts indicating that egg producers are expecting to raise prices 150% to compensate for losses due to avian flu. The consequences will flow through to any product that includes eggs as a component. The reporting party is selling her own egg production at $5/dozen. The prospect of $15/dozen will have major impacts. Chicken is my primary meat. Not looking really good in the near future.
I had a tofu dog once, back in my liberal environmental days, and that was it. Had no desire to have one of those again.
lol
This is local to me, and a huge concern.
One thing that is running around in the back of my head is that it may be in the feed, or the trucks delivering the feed. I know that this has been a vector before.
The other concern I have is while it is hitting the large farms, few of the smaller more traditional guys are getting it (or at least reporting it). That hints that things are not quite on the up and up.
It won’t be $15 a dozen eggs. We will be flooded with Chinese and eastern European eggs well before then. Which is a concern also.
I would suggest you buy your turkey’s for Thanksgiving now.
I want to talk privately by FR Mail.
My husband heartily agrees.
Muslims.
Why do you say that?
Because Muslims wish to hurt America.
Yeah, but putting avian flu in manufactured poultry feed, which may be what happened in the upper Midwest, is not violent or dramatic enough for the terror Muslims like to inspire.
