At the beginning of the sermon on my first Sunday back in a pew the pastor said “we here at the Antioch Church (not the real name of the church) believe the Bible is the true, inerrant word of God.” That struck me as odd. Modern physics, anthropology, archeology and DNA mapping, etc. make it clear that portions of the Bible are not true.

You can't argue Deuteronomy isn't the Law given to the Hebrews.
Christ said he came to FULFILL the Law, not erase a jot or a tittle of it.
Despite Liberal efforts to make Jesus a Magical Forgiveness Machine, He said "Go and sin no more." God is not fine with our sinning nor excusing it. He expects us to TRY to follow the Law, though we may fall short. And He knows the lies in human hearts.
This is a perfect example of the need for a disciplined interpretive approach.

I always wonder to ask those that say parts of the Bible to be untrue and false, well then what is true and accurate in the Bible? Because once you ask that then see them twist in the wind because they don’t really belive in the Bible at all

I strongly disagree. Genesis is either true as it was written or the whole Bible is false.
The Law sends us to Christ for Justification and Regeneration. Christ sends us back to the Law for sanctification.
When has archeology disproved the Bible?
If anything, the Bible has proven true, when incomplete archeology thought otherwise.
Any one with a PHD attached to his or her name can say any thing, and we are supposed to accept it as if it came directly from Mt Sinai. Yet, if we wait a few years we find out that every thing he or she has said about homosexuality, Global Warming and every thing else has been found out as a LIE. So, what are we supposed to believe, these people with PHDs or the bible? The 10 commandments have withstood the ravages of time. Nobody has to obey what the 10 commandment says, but we all know what happens when we forsake it. The world goes to POT in a hurry.
