(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Thursday that Democrats are putting the homosexual rights agenda ahead of religious liberty.
“The modern Democratic Party has become so radical, so extreme that they have determined that their devotion to mandatory gay marriage in all 50 states trumps any allegiance to religious liberty under the First Amendment,” Cruz said at the Family Research Council’s annual pastor retreat in Washington, D.C.
Cruz, who has already launched his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, spoke to more than 600 pastors from around the country about the recent efforts by Indiana and Arkansas legislators to pass bills that mirrored the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1993.
Gay rights activists fought those efforts, claiming that protecting religious liberty allowed discrimination against homosexuals seeking services for same-sex weddings.
“Just a few weeks ago, we saw the battles that played out in Indiana and Arkansas,” Cruz said. “It was heartbreaking.
“It was almost a perfect storm. The modern Democratic Party has become so radical, so extreme that they have determined that their devotion to mandatory gay marriage in all 50 states trumps any allegiance to religious liberty under the First Amendment,” he said.
Cruz, who was introduced by his pastor father, Rafael Cruz, said the United States was founded on religious liberty.
“We are a nation that was formed by men and women fleeing oppression and coming to seek out a land where we could seek out and worship the Lord God Almighty with all of hearts, minds and souls,” Cruz said.
FRC’s annual pastor retreat is a way to empower faith leaders to use their spiritual leadership in the public square, according to its website.
“We believe that the problems we face in our communities and our nation are not just political and cultural, they are spiritual in nature,” the Watchmen on the Wall website states, citing Ephesians 6:10-13. “Consequently, these problems ultimately require a spiritual solution administered by spiritual leadership. That is why we are championing pastors to transform America.”

The Left will make fun of Ted on this one, but he works with DC Democrats everyday, and understands that their intent in to force each American into a state sponsored and federally arranged Gay Marriage.

Did not know that. Big Ted’s story just keeps gettin’ better and better.
we have too many vote splitting by intent candidates.
Jindal splits up Louisiana. Huckabee splits the bible thumper voter. Edwards splits the SC vote. Rand paul takes the kook libertarian vote.
Graham splits the gay vote. McCain splits that whackadoodle vote, and the ‘stayed way past my sell-by date’ vote. Jeb and McCain are going to fight hard for those ‘sell-by’ votes.
Way too many are gunning for the ‘quisling’ vote.
I’m afraid we are cruising past the point where the soap box and the ballot box are going to be effective down the road.
Yet, I asked the leftist if she would be unhappy if a Muslim congregation rejected the child of homosexual parents. She dodged the question.
Personally, I think the child should be baptized ..the situation she is in is certainly not her fault!
We have too many so-called “moderates” who are Democrats in Disguise. I would like these DD’s to be Dead Ducks in the upcoming election. The Establishment RINO politicians vote for the Democrats and Obama all the time. They need to be thrown out and replaced with true Republicans. What are people doing to make this happen?
I like Bobby Jindal’s ethics.
Whoops! Replied on wrong thread .
Give the Muslims would have happily pushed the kid’s gay parents off a cliff, I imagine there was little she Could say!
Glad to know there are folks pushing back. Keep on speaking the truth. That’s good work!
more like our dear Donks view this as the new religion which must be granted all the liberty possible...
mark my words, it knows no gratitude, only self-affirmation, and it will turn on them too, and wouldn’t it be big fat “karma” if it happened about the same time that radical Islam turned on them.
The left doesn’t want gay marriage. The left doesn’t want abortion.
The left wants to break down American values to where a communist push against America meets with less resistance. The gays and abortionistas are just too stupid to realize that.
Not sure if they understand what’s going on, but all they have to do is look at what happens to them in other countries and they will know what will happen to them once the left takes over.
Big Ted's story I'm most interested in hearing is why he voted to fast-track Big Barry's secret TPP bill.
They scream about hate, when they are busy hating.
I could wish they would hail the devil — at least that would be honesty.
Today’s tendency to sound-bite things impoverishes all our understanding. None of this is happening in a vacuum. Issues intertwine in complex tandem. Cruz has not otherwise been one to do something without reasoning through it to the best of his ability, which never extends to personal omniscience. Maybe this maneuver is intended to make it easier to deal with certain other issues down the road, as in giving Barack enough rope to hang himself with.

In my view if these 2 gays want their child baptized, go to another church. Just as there are bakers, florists and other vendors willing to provide services to gays where others won't, there are churches which will baptize that baby. The only reason there is such a controversy is because these radicals want to force their way of life on everyone. Has nothing really to do with that baby. Sorry, gays, but your “rights” are not more important than the rights of others.
Going to a compliant church wouldn’t serve the purpose.
They intentionally seek out those that won’t comply
to make them do so.
The mosque is not on her hate-list, why should she care :-)
