Hillary Clinton is not the only Democratic comeback candidate on the 2016 ticket. Senate Democrats are betting on the past to rebuild their party for the future.
One of the most underappreciated stories in recent years is the deterioration of the Democratic bench under President Obama's tenure in office. The party has become much more ideologically homogenous, losing most of its moderate wing as a result of the last two disastrous midterm elections.
By one new catch-all measure, a party-strength index introduced by RealClearPolitics analysts Sean Trende and David Byler, Democrats are in their worst position since 1928. That dynamic has manifested itself in the Democratic presidential contest, where the bench is so barren that a flawed Hillary Clinton is barreling to an uncontested nomination.
But look more closely, and the reliance on former failures is a direct result of the party having no one else to turn to. If the brand-name challengers didn't run, the roster of up-and-coming prospects in the respective states is short. They're also facing an ominous historical reality that only two defeated senators have successfully returned to the upper chamber in the last six decades.

Democrat Party is the party of feminists.
Democrat Party is the party of homosexuals.
Democrat Party is the party of communists.
Democrat Party is the party of sociopaths.
Democrat Party is the party of personal power at any expense.
BS article. The Dems are well on their way to becoming the permanent majority party.
With the help of John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush and Karl Rove and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
As a full-fledged party of communists, the so called Democrats now have a near unstoppable constituency of “gibsmedats” who will keep their candidates in power until our Beloved Country is reduced to a massive, smoldering Detroit. We are down to the short strokes folks - 2016 is our last chance.
Some people are willfully blind to the political effect massive immigration is having in our racially polarized country.
Yup. They don’t have much of a bench, but they don’t need one. Those brain-dead Iowa voters in the video were all willing to vote for Hillary, despite the fact that none of them could name any of her accomplishments (for one guy the fact that she’s not Scott Walker was reason enough).
They could nominate Irish Setters, Chimpanzees, Cinder Blocks...so long as there is a D next to their name they’re gonna win.
And, may I add that the Democrat Party has been killing-off a large number of their potential voters in the womb for 40 years. Being raised by Feminazi liberals, who have no problem shedding innocent blood, you KNOW most of them would have ended up being Liberal DemocRATS.

Oh, look on the bright side.
We’re not likely to survive as a country past the Obama presidency!
Almost every top democrat will be in a nursing home in 12 years... it’s the party of OLD angry women, dirty OLD men and young black thugs.
Yep, they’re got a future.
LOL - even illegals aren’t going to save their worthless butts...
Sad but true. On the flip side a chimpanzee, an Irish Setter, and a cinder block could run the states of California and New York better than Governors Moonbeam and Son of Mario.
Issues are irrelevant. Identity politics rule.
Exactly correct. Detroit is the paradigm of where Democrats will ultimately take this country. And if Detroit isn't sufficient proof of the model forecast then one only need to look at almost any major American city in which Democrats have retained their hammerlock control.
And we all know that without Wall Street, New York would have failed long ago. Moreover, the script is being written for where NY is once again headed under Kaiser Wilhelm.
I do not subscribe to the theory that Democrat control over America is a foregone conclusion. Seven million fewer people voted for Obama in 2012 and he would have lost but for a weak candidate who could not bring himself to punch hard. 2016 is different. I sense Americans are eager, yeah spring loaded, to get past the Obama catastrophe and will do so this time without having any unpleasant racial backlash fears. There is a reason there are sop many Republican candidates in 2016, and that is because they all know there is a strong likelihood that a republican will win in 2016. These guys don't all commit to running for president unless there is some empirical evidence (convincing polling) that demonstrates people are sick of Obama/Democrat rule. Oh, sure, some will always get into a presidential race, but this many?? No, there is a clear sense the Democrat rule in the White House is nearing an end.
And Hillary? Please. You tell me how all the college and MTV hipsters are going to come out for tired old, cold Hillary as they did for hip, cool Obama. Ain't gonna happen. And O'Malley? He's running for the VP slot.
Cinder blocks would do a much better job of governing than any living human Democrat.
The Dems don’t need illegals to become the permanent majority party.
