The Pentagon said Thursday that an expedited shipment of 2,000 lightweight shoulder-fired weapons should arrive in Iraq next week.
The weapons, according to The Associated Press (AP), are intended to help the Iraqi army stop the Islamic State (ISIS) group's increasingly effective use of car bombs.
The shipment is among a variety of weaponry and equipment the United States agreed to send to Iraq on an expedited basis after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited Washington in April to plead for more help in fighting the extremists.
Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said the shipment of shoulder-fired AT-4 weapons was not in response to the fall of Ramadi over the weekend, although the jihadists effective use of enormous car bombs there put a spotlight on Iraqi army deficiencies and prompted the White House to consider ways of strengthening its support for Iraq.
A senior State Department official on Wednesday said the ISIS offensive in Ramadi over the weekend included about 30 suicide vehicle bombs, including 10 with a great deal of explosive power.

What could go wrong?
given the massive “immigration” from that area of the world,,,there could be several “shoulder fired weapons: showing up in say... Minneapolis by the end of summer.
So, ISIS will have them in a little over 10 days?
Are they sending spines and guts as well? No sense sending weapons if they drop then turn tail and run!
They must have decided they had to many of them and this was the best way to transfer them to ISIS!
Does ISIS get a tracking number so they can be sure to be home when the new shipment arrives?
Wonder if we kindly included a self-addressed stamped envelope for their return to iconic American locations around the nation?
Just what I was thinking. Stockin’ up isis/isil/is.
I remember our F-4s being loaded up to the max with 500# bombs every night and they were unloaded over the Vietcong the next morning. That is how we gave them away!
why? Does isis need 2000 shoulder guided missiles? will they break when they are dropped by the Iraqi army?
Covering the “supposed theft,” in Libya is surely not pertinent. Right, PAO?
Well, we have to given them anti-tank weapons now because they gave ISIS tanks.
Looks like every FReepr’s response is right over the target!
By the time Obama is out of office ISIS will be the second best equipped military force in the world.
10 day turn around. I dont think Air America could beat that in todays market.
Why not send them to the Kurds?
Obama administration is dumb as F***.
Once the ISIS jihadis start capturing our shoulder-held missile launchers from the next batch of surrendering Iraqi soldiers, they’ll be able to use them to shoot down our planes.
Our leaders are creating a suicide mission for our military pilots in Iraq.
ISIS will probably end up with at least half of them.
They might actually use them to kill some Jihadis.
