Denmark is not part of the euro; they have their own currency, the krone. So far, they appear likely to become the first country to abolish cash. The Danish government is currently pushing to free some stores, restaurants, and petrol stations from accepting cash payments as Britain was testing last year in Manchester. The Danish government is currently are proposing to scrap cash transactions entirely as part of a package of cost-saving measures introduced ahead of the Danish election in September.

This is a worrisome issue.
Worrisome indeed. Just more State control of everyone and everything.
Will they make bartering illegal too?
Doesn’t Denmark also have “negative” inflation? I’m not an economist, don’t understand it, but seems to be a precursor to financial implosion for the average person.
From the other thread about this topic:
“The main reason is that banks want to be charge negative rates (charge you money for keeping it in the bank). The reason they are having trouble is that one can move the cash out. Thus restrictions in cash withdrawals.. etc.
So it is all a matter of greed. Dont fall for this BS.”
I have not seen or heard of that. If you find that it is true and have a link to that I would certainly appreciate it if you could ping me to it.
I have problems believing that I missed that. It would be a big, hairy deal.

I clicked the link. The author’s instincts are correct, however he failed to point out to his reader that the entire intent behind this is to be able to control each persons spending. When the economy needs to be “cooled down,” the government can just lock up your accounts and not allow access. When it needs to be “heated up,” then they can make you spend your money or just take it!
Eventually, they can just take it all and give the pleebs an allowance!
Just wait til they announce that they can safely and securely store your bank account info, next to your medical info, on a neat little implantable chip. It’s coming!
This is so that all transactions are recorded, and monitored.
(I don’t care. I use cash for coffee, bubble gum, and newspapers. Everything else is credit card or electronic.)
False headline, considering how much of everyone’s cash has been eliminated by Obama.
"Free"? They don't like cash?
I am fairly sure I read about it right here on FR. I will check my history not sure if I commented on it or not.
Barter flourishes where it is illegal.
But if the Gub’ment makes it illegal to use cash and stores won’t accept it then how do you buy stuff? Used can be sold in the black/grey markets but new items would need to be stolen out of the supply chain to get into the barter/cash markets or bought from someone who used digital money to buy an item legally and traded it for cash money. And I am sure THAT type of transaction will also be made to be illegal. The Gub’ment has already made inroads to such with firearms transactions.
This gives me a place to start digging.
I don't trust media to begin with so I'll chase that down. And I'll chase the law itself down and see if it actually got implemented, and if so, when.
Once again, Freeper rock when it comes down to what you just did. Thanks.

True.
Forcing a cashless society on us will serve to drive more of the economy underground.
The intent here is so obvious, and yet 90% of the people are clueless as to why the governments want to eliminate cash.
Well, it is said that the people get the government they deserve. Every day that becomes more true.
That Louisiana law proves Jindal doesn’t love freedom.
No freedom-loving governor would sign such a law.
I thought that either Norway or Sweden already did that.
