NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) Starting Thursday, the armed security guard at Panera Bread Co. across from Vanderbilt University will no longer be carrying a firearm.
According to the manager at the 21st Avenue location, the decision comes after multiple patrons complained to corporate that the armed security agent was violating the companys own gun policy and making them uncomfortable.
One of those who complained was Lillian Hallstrand, a long-time customer of the Panera on 21st.
The Director of Stewardship and Vocational Planning at Vanderbilts divinity school told news 2 coming to the restaurant in recent months has been unsettling since the guards began to carry firearms.
It was definitely alarming, Hallstrand explained. Typically when I see people around with guns, I assume there is some sort of law enforcement happenings taking place. I was reluctant to go in till I knew that there was nothing going on.

I can imagine the high school girl who one day would wander into Panera Bread (factory?) and espy those dreaded evil guns! GASP!!!! That quirky, well-versed young popular girl who had determined to find a career where she’d not have to work hard. You know, sit on her ass and pound out a sermon once a week? One that probably never even considered a job that required learning “do you want fries with that?”
Nope, Greek-Life at a divinity party school. Great degree, good job prospects and the ability to wander through life with just that precious mind at her back....yep....encouraging isn’t it?
I am suspicious when it lists a college with 1 violent crime and 134 property crimes per year as “high crime”.
From the article:
The FBI explicitly discourages rankings based on this data. Obviously this has a lot to do with the controversy of such a list.
Further disclaimers:
The data includes some 575 campuses, but inexplicably omits some major schools
The most dangerous schools include a very high number of medical schools; presumably because their campuses include semi-public hospital areas. We removed graduate schools from the list
These stuped sheep are going to get killed someday by some animal that does not give a damn about their “feelings”.
That will be a great day for the gene pool.

This person works for a University and does not understand the US Constitution? She see a gun and she only thinks of a police incident? Really lady you need to get out and about more.
I see Clark Atlanta and Savannah State are on the list too. I went to GA Southern.
Come to Cochise Cty Arizona and stay away from Bisbbee and Douglas Citys. The rest of the CTY is OK.
so 1. let the guard conceal carry. 2. i conceal carry in panera, whole foods, sprouts, etc. when i have to go there. and my chili’s manager is quite happy about conceal carry folks in her restaurant.
I've heard of armed guards at jewelry stores, but a sandwich shop? This must be a really crappy section of town.
I am certain that thugs, rapists and criminals will now not bring guns to that Panera. It begs the question why were armed guards placed there in the first place?
Sons of obola have at it!!!
see? even libs will like the pink..;)
Give em time.....they will.
Targets Gun Ban Has Unexpected Results As Assailants Attack Stores Unarmed Customers
Should read “Expected Results”
I used to envision Memphis (and Tennessee in general) as kind of sleepy, Southern and beautiful. Then I met a murder detective from Memphis and she quickly disabused me of my notions. I am sure Nashville has it’s great parts but like any big city with a certain demographic there are no-go zones.
I guess Lillian Hallstrand wouldn’t complain if the bad guys robbed the store. She would react like that mayor in Baltimore and say it was ok as she slumps to the floor after being shot.
Wow. A neighborhood so crappy a bread shop needs armed guards. Do I need to guess the demographics?
If I had unlimited funds, I’d get one of those just to fry peoples’ minds at 3-gun ...
“she has The Walking Dead as one of her favorite shows. Doesnt that show have a lot of GUNS?”
