You may not lose sleep over this, but EWTN was concerned enough to call attention to this man before his appointment. He also speaks in front of youth conferences.

Papal appointments are not U.S. Presidential appointments. There is not a time of public vetting after the one making the appointment indicates his intentions. Consequently, EWTN did not have any opportunity to contact the Pope and express their concerns.

Lots of people speak in front of youth conferences. Many youth conferences have lousy speaker. Frankly, if this appointment keeps him away from two youth conferences, the net effect will almost certainly be positive.

An auxiliary bishop would likely have much more clout. Given that the man is the former Master General of the Dominicans, this is nothing. It is like having sheriff Arpaio retire and then having the governor appoint him to a large panel to study water usage. Appointing him Archbishop of Westminster would be like appointing him Senator.
