Lots of people speak in front of youth conferences. Many youth conferences have lousy speaker. Frankly, if this appointment keeps him away from two youth conferences, the net effect will almost certainly be positive.
An auxiliary bishop would likely have much more clout. Given that the man is the former Master General of the Dominicans, this is nothing. It is like having sheriff Arpaio retire and then having the governor appoint him to a large panel to study water usage. Appointing him Archbishop of Westminster would be like appointing him Senator.

I hope there are not a lot of speakers who have had legitimate objections expressed by a Catholic news channel be allowed as speakers at youth conferences. If there are, then frankly something needs to change within the Church.
His appointment will give him access and acceptance to many Catholic organizations. You seem to be accepting of this appointment. Many other Catholics will also be accepting of this appointment. He will have a pulpit to spread his garbage.
