“... untracked gun show purchases...” Oh no you di’int. You mean private sales that happen to take place at a gun show. That’s more specific to what you meant right? Lucky for us WA and now OR have essentially banned the private sale of firearms. It won’t actually stop the sales, it just made them illegal. And soon maybe coming to NV if the IPOS/SPOS/LPOS/SPOS pass the 2016 ballot initiative. Yes, there is the possibility they obtained the weapons through private sales. Or got them from the drug cartels that some of the reportedly deal with.
Untracked back alley sales is another way.
Where are there “untracked gun show purchases”?
Or they could just STEAL them.
How about person to person private sales. What is your opinion on that type of transaction?
These Mom goo goos make the chronic mistake (of do-gooders) of thinking that if they take a big bite out of liberty, crime will go down.
See: the 18th Amendment. It has the opposite effect.
Go after the gang bangers and bikers illegally in possession and carrying; leave the rights of law abiding citizens to buy and sell guns the hell alone.
The mouse in my pocket and I are about fed up with `subsidizing’ people who feel laws don’t apply to them, while watching our rights whittled away:
Americans in Connecticut and Oregon are telling their overlords to GTH over infringements to their 2nd amendment liberty.
Even if private sales were made illegal criminals would simply buy stolen guns or ones smuggled in the country just like drug traffickers in Mexico do. Also it would raise the price of black market weapons which would drive an industry of home-brew weapons that are even less traceable than stolen weapons.
So yes, it is possible that a criminal obtained a weapon at a gun show by lying to a private seller but had that avenue not been open it would be simple to obtain a gun through other means. Thus there is no way that private sales increase crime. There is however plenty to suggest that banning private sales will keep guns away from honest citizens which increases crime.
No. Stop it. Be part of the team; don’t be the enemy.
I am not flaming you, but I wish people would stop using this “gun show loophole” mantra (or facsimiles thereof).
The FACT is that a sale between private parties at a gun show is no different than a sale between private parties in your driveway. If your state law allows the sale in your driveway, it has to allow the sale (again, PRIVATE) in the proximity of a gun show unless liberals have succeeded in changing the laws regarding gun shows.
To even deign to recognize that ‘loophole’ canard is legitimization of their belief there is a problem to start with.
Also untracked trunk of the car purchases.
