A cruise ship that originated in Boston has run aground in Bermuda, according to the United States Coast Guard.
Coast Guard officials said the Norwegian Dawn ran aground after leaving Bermuda on Tuesday evening.
There are 2,675 passengers and 1,062 crew members on board.
Coast Guard officials said the situation is being assessed and the ship was stable.
Hey, I know what will be fun! Let’s get in a cramped, floating, warm, moist Petri Dish with a few thousand other people and their waste and refuse. And run into a reef!
Hey, cruise line advertising is prohibited here. Anyway, you left out the part about the rats and the Legionnaires’ Disease... :-(
My sentiments exactly! One cruise on a floating toilet was enough for me.
Yes we did. My favorite port is Skagway. The Red Onion Saloon was interesting in a baudy sort of way having been a brothel. I found out that Skagway had electricity before New York City !
Our first trip to Alaska was a 15 day inland tour that also included the Yukon. We took the domed car train into Anchorage and road from White Horse Pass to Skagway. We loved every minute of it., even the freezing cold whitewater rafting trip.
Because Bermuda trips always conflicted with my fishing season I have never been there.
This year I decided to go and see Bermuda while I still am healthy enough. - Tom
“So who is the captain of this ship?”
I just read somewhere that the captain’s name is Brian Williams. (sarc)

We may be evacuated off the ship depending on how the evaluation of the damages go.

ROFL Good One =)
LOL! You maybe right, but I suggest the ship is riding low in the water. Maybe under-capacity in souls, but over-capacity in cargo, if yer get my meanin'.
“Ahoy, deck watch! Inform the Captain we’ll need to off-load 300 Oompah-Loompahs before she’ll refloat!”
Great photos and interesting use of forced perspective. No way the guy on the right could be standing like that!
I heard that the ‘got off’ when the tide rose, any word?
Del Rio said the ship had a temporary malfunction of its steering system upon leaving the harbor. .He said the captain, using bow thrusters and other means, was able to maneuver the bow of the ship onto a limestone plateau.
This sounds like a narrative right out of the Obama Playbook. -Tom
Indeed. I did a double-take, then realized what happened.
Dang. I sailed on the Dawn during its first year.
“Wanna get away?”
Just stayz off the Kontiki party boats.. Rum is not a food group.
Norwegian Dawn?
I think I saw that movie!
