I was reading the commentary last year of an American IT guy who was offered a job and considered moving to Rio. The upscale neighborhood was a five-star place was part of the deal....but he noted that several guards roamed the gated community with shotguns. Not only that. One of my neighbors worked on fast and the furious (FAST FIVE) in Brazil and he told me that never in his life did he ever have so much armed security in a foreign location shoot. Apparently word was that the local gangs had threatened the studio for extortion if they want to shoot scenes “safely”.
It’s not the guns, it’s the number of underclass.
